Dat 240

It’s the okay to complain sometimes – that’s what I learned today.

It’s 8: 11 PM on day 240 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a polony and lettuce sandwich for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – after thirteen LONG days a kind heart by the name of Ellen (@LoveThatMax on Twitter) and Adrian Klein  – someoone I don’t even know  made donations –  thanks to both of you for your contributions you don’t know this but I actually prayed
for a donation 🙂 – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch TV, feed myself grapes for dinner, continue reading A Purloined Life – the first of two books in Stella Cameron‘s Charmed and brush my teeth once more.

Today as I sat in front of the laptop trying to breathe through the pain in my hips I remember thinking I’m not going to complain, I’m going to complain, I’m going to complain but after a short while I gave in and thought I hate being in pain most of the time, I hate the fact that my father doesn’t take me anywhere, I hate the fact that my mom thinks I do nothing even though I get up every day and try to make a difference, I hate the fact that people see an invalid when they look at me…I hate cp and just like that my anger was gone. Do you hold things in until you feel like you’re about to blow?

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Day 239

People fear what they don’t understand and hate what they can’t conquer. – Andrew Smith

It’s 8: 03 PM on day 239 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a polony sandwich for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – no luck – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch TV, feed myself grapes for dinner and continue reading A Purloined Life – the first of two books in Stella Cameron‘s Charmed.

A couple of weeks ago somebody sent me a tweet which read what’s cp? and shortly after I replied back telling her what it was she sent me another tweet saying something along the lines of oh I thought it was chronic pancreatitis I admire your attitude to which I couldn’t help but laugh anyway the reason I recounted that conversation was just to show you how uneducated some people were – and still are – about Cerebral Palsy and to share with you this wonderful video:

Day 238

Feeling guilty about something you have no control is a sure way to drive yourself crazy – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 8: 03 PM on day 238 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a banana for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck – feed myself Chapati and chicken curry for lunch, tweet some more about my campaign – still no luck 🙁 – watch TV and continue reading A Purloined Life – the first of two books in Stella Cameron‘s Charmed.

Today both housekeeper #1 and housekeeper #2 failed to show up for work – housekeeper #2 was put in place in case housekeeper #1 couldn’t make it to work on a given day – and I was consumed with guilt knowing that the reason my mother couldn’t go to work was because she had to stay home and take care of me but after a short while I realized that I got up every morning and tried to be the best that I could be and that that was more than enough. Have you ever felt guilty about something that you had no control over?

Day 237

It only takes one moment to turn a bad day into a good one – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 9: 02 PM on day 237 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a banana for breakfast, watch TV, feed myself a KFC Creame Chesse & Sweet Chilli Twister – a wrap consisting of chicken strips, salad and sauce – for lunch, watch some more TV, feed myself a banana for dinner, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – it’s been 11 days since my last donation – I keep count – and I can’t help being a ted bit in awe of my own perseverance because I know that most people in my situation would have said I give up I have my own problems to deal with but not me I’m like a cockroach I keep coming back LOL 🙂 –  and brush my teeth once more.

As you know I am generally a happy person but today I was having an awful day until I stumbled onto a cute video about animals on Facebook. Take a look:

Day 236

It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity. – Albert Einstein

It’s 7: 19 PM on day 236 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a banana for breakfast, prepare my Kid of the Week feature for tomorrow only stopping to feed myself Chapati and chicken curry for lunch, go visit my aunt and uncle at my cousin’s house – God I love my family… shortly after we arrived my aunt disappeared and when she returned we asked her where she had been it turns out she was turning my father’s car upside down looking for the gold chain I’d lost while on vacation isn’t that the sweetest thing you’ve ever heard 🙂 – and feed myself Chapati and chicken curry for dinner.

Today my sister and were sitting in the same room and I said annoyed by her incessant texting it is a general rule that when someone is in the room with you that you should be talking to them and not be looking down at your phone and my sister being the smart-alack that she is responded by saying something along the lines of there’s a simple solution for that I’ll just switch the TV on for you that way both of us will be staring at something and in that moment I realized that technology was tearing us apart rather than bringing us together. Is technology stripping us of our ability to communicate effectively?

Day 235

Your talent allows you to show yourself as you truly are – that’s what I learned today.

It’s 8: 25 PM on day 235 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a bread and jam sandwich for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck – watch TV, feed myself rice and curry for lunch, tweet about my campaign some more – no luck – attempt peeling an orange – I only succeeded in stabbing all the juice out of it (Note to self: Must practice cutting and peeling an orange) – feed myself an orange for dinner, play wrestling with my brother – Brennan’s death has taught me that life is too short not to get down on my brother’s level and play with him 🙂 – continue to tweet about my campaign – still no luck – and brush my teeth once more.

Today I was chatting with my friend via Facebook and she said having read this blog yesterday wow, you inspire me and in that moment I realized that the reason I loved writing so much was because people saw my soul rather than my body when they read what I wrote. When you do whatever it is you do are you able to show yourself as you truly are?

Day 234

From my rotting body, flowers shall grow and I am in them and that is eternity. – Edvard Munch

It’s 9: 18 PM on day 234 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a boiled egg for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck – watch TV, feed myself rice and curry for lunch, continue reading A Purloined Life – the first of two books in Stella Cameron‘s Charmed – feed myself boiled green banana with a yoghurt and onion dip for dinner and tweet about my campaign – still no luck damn it I wish everyone would pitch in seeing as we’re all in this together.

Today started out like any other day until Christine – someone I didn’t even know – sent me a message telling me that Brannan – the little boy I wrote a post about yesterday – had passed away and in that moment I couldn’t stop the tears but after about fifteen minutes I dried my eyes and started thinking about ways to honour Brennan’s life which is when I came up with Brannan’s Pledge  – our promise to end all forms of discrimination.

Day 233

Spiritual teachers come in all forms – that’s what I learned today.

It’s 9: 01 PM on day 233 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a banana for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – no luck – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, continue reading  A Purloined Life – the first of two books in Stella Cameron‘s Charmed – watch TV, feed myself Batura – deep fried bread – for dinner and watch some more TV.

As you know religion is a huge part of my life but it wasn’t until I ‘met’ Brennan – a ten-year-old boy who is dying of cancer – that I truly understood the meaning of faith every Sunday he goes to church which I find quite astonishing considering the fact that there was a time in my life that I refused to go to church because I was mad at God for ‘taking away my legs’ with that said I would like to thank Brennan for teaching me that faith is choosing to believe in a higher power even in our darkest hour. Has somebody you least expected taught you a lesson that you will never forget?

Day 232

Feeling guilty that you have things that other people don’t have won’t change anything– that’s what I learned today

It’s 8: 08 PM on day 232 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a polony sandwich for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – no luck – continued writing my novel – I started last year and have every moment of it so far 🙂 – feed myself rice and curry for lunch,  watch TV and feed myself Batura – deep fried bread – for dinner.

Today I was feeling a little hungry so I asked my mom to go get me something from the kitchen and as I was eating I felt bad because I knew that not everybody was that lucky which is why I have decided to create Virginia’s Sandwich Run – an upcoming page on this blog dedicated to our late housekeeper, Virginia, which aims to raise enough money to make 48 sandwiches a week for the people in our current housekeeper’s neighbourhood. Do you feel guilty about inequality but fail to do anything about it?

Day 231

When you fight fire with fire someone will get burned – that’s what I learned today

It’s 9: 41 PM on day 231 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a banana for breakfast, continue reading A Purloined Life – the first of two books in Stella Cameron‘s Charmed – backup all my files – my laptop was making funny noises and I thought it better to be safe than sorry LOL 🙂 – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – no luck – watch TV, feed myself Batura – deep fried bread – for dinner and tweet about my campaign some more – still no luck 🙁

Today as I heard of all the killings going on in the world via the seven o’ clock news I realized that evil was a cycle and that the only way to break it was to refuse to retaliate against our enemies. Are you burning your house down to kill a rat?
