Day 2895: Getting Myself Unstuck

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

It’s 1 : 07 PM on day 2895 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and do some work

Today I rediscovered that the best way to get myself unstuck is to think about how I can be of service when I’m not helping someone or doing something positive I feel like I could drown in my own frustration and all the things I’ll never be

Day 2552: The One Thing I Do Most Days That Makes Me Happy

Every day strive to serve – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 31  PM on day 2552 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Psalm 127:1  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Today it occurred to me that I’m happy most days because I serve most days I always make sure I’m giving something to someone whether it’s a compliment, my money or my time and I do so (most of the time) without any expectation that it will be repaid which is a good thing because most of the time I am ignored (it’s okay I understand people are busy I’m just a girl in a small town who presses a few buttons all day).

Day 2134: Mandela Day 2016

“We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.” –  Nelson Mandela

It’s 12 : 30  PM on day 2134 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 3 John 11, learn one new thing – The six most common elements in living things are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur. Atoms of these elements combine and form thousands of large molecules. These large molecules make up the structures of cells and carry out many processes essential to life.-   have breakfast,  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –  raised $6 990 only  $5 510 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂  ) .

Today being Mandela Day – a day during which people all over the world spend 67 minutes of their time in service of others in honour of the late Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service – and what would have been Mr. Mandela’s 98th birthday I urge everybody to fellow in his footsteps and serve the world every day not just on July 18th. Happy Birthday Tata Madiba I try every day to carry on from where you left off I promise not to embarrass you.

Day 1851: Live to serve

Live to serve – that’s my message to the world.

It’s  11 :  41 AM on day 1851 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read John 17, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  learn one new thing –In 600 B.C., Lydia’s King Alyattes minted the first official currency.–have breakfast and hang out with family.

Yesterday I realized that when you live to serve everything else falls into place every good thing that has come into my life has come out of my desire to serve.

Day 1768: Mandela Day Eve 2015

“A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world the better place we so passionately dreamt of.” – Nelson Mandela

It’s 12 :  20 PM on day 1768  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Malachi 4,    publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –At around 1,392,000 kilometres (865,000 miles) wide, the Sun’s diameter is about 110 times wider than Earth’s. – have breakfast, make sandwiches for Cynthia’s ( our housekeeper’s) neighborhood with Cynthia’s help as part of  Virginia’s Sandwich Run – (thank you sisi Cynthia for all your help) –    and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $3 372 raised so far.

Tomorrow is Mandela Day – a day during which people all over the world spend 67 minutes of their time in service of others in honour of the late Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service – I urge everyone reading this to do something for other people tomorrow and every day after that because in the end what we give is all we have and how we love is what will last.

Day 1649: Your life not about you?

Your life is less about you and more about what you can do for others – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 :  00 PM on day 1649 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth,  pray,  read Ezekiel 9, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing – Tigers are the largest wild cats in the world. Adults can weigh up to 363kg – that’s about the same as ten ten year olds! – and measure up to 3.3m!– promote my Educate Generations campaign– $2 435 raised so far 🙂 –   exercise, feed myself a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast, make sandwiches for our sisi’s (housekeeper’s) neighborhood with sisi’s help as part of  Virginia’s Sandwich Run (thank you sisi for all your help) and continue promoting the campaign – only $65 more to raise to reach goal.

Today I realized again that my life is less about me and more about what I can do for others I may not have an Apple Ipad Air 2 or designer clothes but I go to bed every night knowing I tried my very best to make a difference and at the end of the day that means more to me than having an Ipad Air 2 or designer clothes.

Day 1403: Serve the world for 67 minutes on Mandela Day 2014

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by “I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.” ― Mother Teresa

It’s 12  : 00 PM on day 1403 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Psalm 90,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself bran flakes with milk and banana for breakfast and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on 108% with a day to go.

Tomorrow is Mandela Day let’s serve our communities for 67 minutes it’s the least we can do Nelson Mandela spent 67 years of his life fighting for social justice.

Day 1358: One act of kindness can inspire a hundred others

One act of kindness can inspire a hundred others – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 1  : 12 PM on day 1358 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 45,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself boiled egg and bran flakes  for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – on $819.54 but friends promised to donate recently so I’m not stressed –  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings, spend time outside  and continue promoting my campaign – still on $819.54

Three days ago our housekeeper told me that seeing her feed the children in her community has inspired others in her community to be of service as well I couldn’t have been happier for her now she is a role model and a pillar of her community.   Have you ever seen one act of kindness inspire a hundred others?

Day 1283: Indebted to no one but indebted to everyone

As much as we don’t want to be indebted to anyone we are indebted to the planet and the people in it just by virtue of being alive – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12  : 00  PM on day 1283 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,   brush my teeth, read Job 17, publish my Disability of the Day feature  feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast  and  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign –still no donations yet – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

Yesterday I was overwhelmed by this feeling of not wanting to be indebted to anyone but then I realized I am indebted to the planet and the people in it just by virtue of being alive I owe my parents for bringing me into the world, I owe the planet for emitting so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, I owe people who have less than me through no fault of their own…I am indebted to everyone even when I am indebted to no one.  Do you get that you are indebted to the planet and the people in it just by virtue of being alive?

Day 247

A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others. – Author Unknown
