Recently I watched a video which was sort of a recap of the top 10 life and leadership lessons from Nelson Mandela I loved it because every one of those lessons are still applicable today. Watch “Nelson Mandela best ever speeches” below:

Today being Mandela Day – a day during which people all over the world spend 67 minutes of their time in service of others in honour of the late Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service – and what would have been Mr. Mandela’s 99th birthday I can’t help feeling extremely privileged to have shared this planet with this extraordinary human if only for a short while I never got to meet him but his life taught me so much about forgiveness, humility, integrity and leadership. Happy 99th Birthday Tata Madiba you have left this planet but you will never leave my heart I strive every day to be the kind of human and citizen that God, my family, you and my Superhero Catherine Constantinides would be proud of.

Day 2274: Forever in Our Hearts Nelson Mandela

“There are many people in South Africa who are rich and who can share those riches with those not so fortunate who have not been able to conquer poverty.” – Nelson Mandela

Today marks the three year anniversary of Former President Nelson Mandela’s death I know he lived a long life and made a massive impact but I still wish he was here the world needs him now as much as ever before. We Miss You Madiba.

Day 1769: To Serve and Mandela Day 2015

It doesn’t matter how or when you serve as long as you do serve – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 :  00 PM on day 1769  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Matthew 1,    publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing – -According to Anthony Sampson, Mandela’s official biographer, by the end of his administration, “Three million people were connected to telephone lines and safe drinking water, 1.5 million children were brought into the education system, 500 clinics were upgraded or built, two million people were connected to the electricity grid and 750,000 houses were built providing shelter for nearly three million people.” -and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $3 372 raised so far.

Today is Mandela Day but sisi Cynthia and I made sandwiches for the kids in her neighbourhood yesterday since she doesn’t work on weekends. Watch the video below (Note: The fact that sisi Cynthia is out of the frame in this video was not intentional on my part it just happened like that):

Day 1768: Mandela Day Eve 2015

“A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world the better place we so passionately dreamt of.” – Nelson Mandela

It’s 12 :  20 PM on day 1768  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Malachi 4,    publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –At around 1,392,000 kilometres (865,000 miles) wide, the Sun’s diameter is about 110 times wider than Earth’s. – have breakfast, make sandwiches for Cynthia’s ( our housekeeper’s) neighborhood with Cynthia’s help as part of  Virginia’s Sandwich Run – (thank you sisi Cynthia for all your help) –    and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $3 372 raised so far.

Tomorrow is Mandela Day – a day during which people all over the world spend 67 minutes of their time in service of others in honour of the late Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service – I urge everyone reading this to do something for other people tomorrow and every day after that because in the end what we give is all we have and how we love is what will last.

Day 1544: Nelson Mandela gone but never forgotten

Those we love and admire never die they live on in us– that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 05 PM on day 1544 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Isaiah 29,   publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings, read and comment on Asimbonanga: Nelson Mandela remembered,  promote my Educate Generations campaign–on $1 070 –  feed myself egg with bread and a banana for breakfast  and continue promoting my campaign – still on $1 070 but things could be worse.

Today marks the one year anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s death and although I am very said that he has left this world I find great comfort in knowing that he lives on in everybody who loves and admires him. Mr. Nelson Mandela I will never forget you thank you for all you’ve done for this country because of you and your friends I have the chance to change the world I promise not to waste it I promise I will make God, my parents and you proud.

Day 1189: Goodbye Nelson Mandela

“Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity.” ~ Nelson Mandela

It’s 12  : 00 PM on day 1189 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read 1 Chronicles 22,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature,    feed myself boiled egg and oats for breakfast and  hang out with my family.

As you may or may not know today is Nelson Mandela’s funeral I’ve been sad that he’s no longer with us ever since I heard that he died but now I realize although he has stopped breathing he lives in each of us whose lives he touched. Rest in peace Madiba I will never forget you.

Day 1185: How Nelson Mandela continues to influence my life

People you have never met can influence you in more ways than you ever thought – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12  : 47 PM on day 1185 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, feed myself Bran Flakes and boiled egg for breakfast, read 1 Chronicles 18,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,    practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings  and hang out with my family.

Last night somebody was being particularly unforgiving and I couldn’t help thinking about Nelson Mandela he forgave the people who put him in jail for 27 years and we hold onto petty things from today onwards whenever I think I can’t forgive someone I will think of Nelson Mandela coming out of jail prepared to forgive his jailers. Have you been influenced by people you’ve never met?

Day 1002: Lessons I’ve learned from the best man I’ve never met

Sometimes people you’ve never met can teach you the greatest lessons  – that’s what I keep learning  🙂

It’s 2  :  57 PM on day 1002 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles,  read Deuteronomy 19, publish my Disability of the Day feature,   tweet and Facebook about my campaign –  no luck –  feed myself an egg sandwich for breakfast and practice typing with both hands.

This morning thinking of Nelson Mandela this quote came to mind freedom is what you do with what has been done to you imagine being put in prison for twenty-seven years for doing nothing wrong and then forgiving the people who imprisoned you I couldn’t have done it Nelson Mandela has taught me more about perseverance and forgiveness than anybody else on the planet.  Have people you’ve never met taught you some of life’s greatest lessons?

Day 1001: Praying for peace for Nelson Mandela

If you love someone set them free   – that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s  12 :  57 PM on day 1 001 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read Deuteronomy 18, publish my Disability of the Day feature,   tweet and Facebook about my campaign –  no luck – stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles,  feed myself an avocado sandwich for breakfast and practice typing with both hands.

A few days ago my hero Nelson Mandela was admitted to the hospital with a lung infection and ever since then people all over the world have been praying for his speedy recovery I myself am a little conflicted as to what to pray for on the one hand I, like the rest of the world, want him to live forever on the other hand I don’t want him to suffer so I have decided to pray that Madiba be at peace how ever that happens.
