Day 230

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. – Oprah Winfrey

It’s 7: 48 PM on day 230 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself baked beans on toast for breakfast, put the finishing touches on this week’s edition of Kid of the Week and publish it only stopping to feed myself rice and curry for lunch, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck – watch the movie It’s Complicated starting Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin – it was about a divorced couple having an extramarital affair after Jack – the ex-husband (played by Alec Baldwin) – gets remarried to a much younger woman – it was refreshing in that the ending was totally unexpected I would recommend it to anyone who likes romantic comedies with a twist –tweet about my campaign some more – still no luck 🙁 – and feed myself grilled chicken for dinner

Today as my mother washing my bloodied pants she said God will bless you and without hesitation I responded I am already blessed and that’s when I realized that the fact that I could see myself as blessed was a blessing in itself. Do you praise the life you have or long for the life you could have had?
Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://twitter.com/Nisha360

If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/nisha-varghese/nishavarghese

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!

Day 207

A child can ask questions that a wise man cannot answer. – Author Unknown

It’s 10: 01 PM on day 207 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, watch TV, listen to music, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – Georgina (@edumazing) made a donation – thanks again Georgina 🙂 – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, go watch the movie No Strings Attached starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman at the Hemingways Mall – the movie was really funny but it has to be said the sex scenes were a bit too frequent for my liking maybe it’s because I’m Indian and believe that sex is an expression of love that should be kept private – go visit my cousin, feed myself strawberry yoghurt and tweet about my campaign – no further luck.

After the movies my brother, his best friend and I opted to stay in the car while my parents went to do some grocery shopping and out of the blue my brother’s best friend asked him why do you laugh so much and he replied rather matter-of-factly because I can and in that moment I remember feeling so mesmerised and deciding to follow in my brother’s footsteps by doing things just because I can unless there’s a reason I shouldn’t. Have the words of a child changed your outlook on life?

Day 206

Everything you say and do reflects upon you – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 10: 40 PM on day 206 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself bun and baked beans for brunch, continue reading Engaging The Enemy by Nora Roberts – finished reading A Will and a Way which was one of two books in the same book – it was basically about two people – Michael and Pandora – setting their differences aside to make sure that their late uncle’s fortune didn’t fall into the wrong hands – I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance novels – watch TV, feed myself Chapati – an unleavened flatbread – and baked beans for dinner and tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – no luck.

Today I was watching the first episode of season nine of American Idol and there was this one particular guy – I forgot his name – who rubbed all the judges up the wrong way with his bad attitude and as I watched him interact with the judges like they owed him something I realized that it didn’t matter how much talent you had – which he didn’t – if you weren’t nice to people you wouldn’t get anywhere in  life which explained why I seemed to get along with everybody I met – every time I was with someone I made a point of making him/her feel like the centre of the universe. Is what you say and do an accurate reflection of you?

Day 174

A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares. –
Debi Mazar

It’s 4: 15 PM on day 174 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself Batura – deep fried bread – for breakfast while watching the  Cricket World Cup match: South Africa vs. England – we lost by 6 runs but it’s okay we’ll get’em next time 🙂 –   tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – no luck –  feed myself rice and curry for lunch, tweet about my campaign some more – still no luck –  Chapati – an unleavened flatbread –  vegetable  curry for dinner – I am taking part in lent –    the period of 40 weekdays before Easter observed in some Christian churches as a period of prayer, penance, fasting, and self-denial. (Note: my community goes according to what is done in the Eastern churches so we will be fasting for 49 days and not 40) –   for the second consecutive year 🙂 – tweet about my campaign some more – I guess third time was the charm because @Dyan_Can (Diane) donated $10 –it was a pleasure meeting you Diane thank you for your donation 🙂 –and send two emails: the first to Brian’s mom, Lisa to see how she was doing (if you have no idea what I am talking about refer to End bullying for Brian) – Lisa and I have never meet in person but I know that if something ever happened to me I would want someone to do for my mom what I’m doing for Lisa – and the second was to the WordPress support team – my email notifications were being sent to two different email accounts and I asked them if they could help me fix it.

Yesterday I was watching The Showbiz Report – an entertainment magazine show – and heard that Angelina Jolie had stopped filming on her directorial debut to visit Afghanistan and meet refugees and I remember being so awestruck by the fact that she was so willing to drop everything in her life to go and help others with that said I would like this opportunity to applaud Angelina for all her philanthropic efforts – people may forget all the awards you’ve won but they’ll never forget all the good you’ve done you’re  officially my new hero. Is there an Angelina Jolie in you? 🙂
