Day 2103: Stay True to your Life’s Message

Stay true to your life’s message – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 46  PM on day 2103 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Acts 3: 6, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Birds depend less on the senses of smell and taste than people do. Most birds have little use for the sense of smell. The odors of food, prey, enemies or mates quickly disperse in the wind. Birds possess olfactory glands, but they’re not well developed in most species, including the songbirds in our backyards. –  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Yesterday I realized the importance of staying true to one’s life’s message you can’t create a new message if you’re living the old one – your thoughts, words and actions must be in alignment with each other.

Day 2102: Youth Day 2016

See the problems and become the solutions – that’s my message to the youth.

It’s 1 : 56  PM on day 2102 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Psalm 68: 3, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Venus: yellowish-white; we can only see the thick layer of colorless and featureless sulfuric acid clouds. You can find more detailed info on Venus here. Earth: light blue with white clouds; oceans and light scattered by the atmosphere make Earth prevailingly blue. –  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Today being Youth Day here in South Africa – a day that honours the youth of 1976 who fought against the introduction of Afrikaans as the medium of instruction in local schools – I’ve been thinking about my responsibility as a youth and I’ve realized that my responsibility is to see problems and become the solutions. Happy Youth Day South Africa.

Day 2101: Fight not thy Feelings

Don’t fight your feelings – that’s  my message to myself and the world.

It’s 11 : 36  AM on day 2101 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Malachi 3:10, learn one new thing – The origins of ice cream can be traced back to at least the 4th century B.C. Early references include the Roman emperor Nero (A.D. 37-68) who ordered ice to be brought from the mountains and combined with fruit toppings, and King Tang (A.D. 618-97) of Shang, China who had a method of creating ice and milk concoctions. – listen to 97.2  – yes Catherine Constantinides was on again (yes, twice in 2 days she has been chosen for the Mandela-Washington Fellowship it’s a HUGE DEAL I’m SO PROUD of her  🙂  )  –  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

This morning I realized yet again that fighting one’s feelings is futile one would be better served acknowledging and accepting said feelings.

Day 2100: Life is Grey

Life is not black and white it’s grey and messy – that’s what I keep realizing .

It’s 12 : 31  PM on day 2100 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, listen to CliffCentral  – yes Catherine Constantinides was on again (hence my reason for listening)  –  read 1 Peter 4: 14, have breakfast, learn one new thing – The first true measurement of light-speed came in 1676 by a fellow named Olaf Roemer. He noted that the time elapsed between eclipses of Jupiter with its moons became shorter as the Earth moved closer to Jupiter and became longer as the Earth and Jupiter drew farther apart. – and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – Nisha Kotecha of Good News Shared donated $10  (thanks SO MUCH  Nisha 🙂 )  which brings my total raised to $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) . .

Today I realized yet again that life is not black and white it’s grey and messy when I was younger everything used to be so clear-cut and black-and-white now all I see is grey.

Day 2099: Peace, Violence and Me

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves. –  Dalai Lama

It’s 11 : 29   AM on day 2099 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Psalm 31: 24, have breakfast, learn one new thing -If you look at the heat capacity of salt water, you will find that it is less than pure water. In other words, it takes less energy to raise the temperature of the salt water 1°C than pure water. This means that the salt water heats up faster and eventually gets to its boiling point first. – and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 900 only $350 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Today I’ve been thinking about the violence that is plaguing our world it continues to make me sad that people with ability I would love to have use their abilities to inflict pain on others it’s just not fair (don’t get me wrong I can still make a difference sitting on my wheelchair it just would be a lot easier if I could walk). Peace be upon our world.

Day 2098: Teach girls bravery, not perfection

Bravery not perfection leads to progress – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12 : 37  PM on day 2098 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Isaiah 46: 9, have breakfast, learn one new thing – The nervous system of the starfish is very simple…there is no brain and there are not even any ganglia to coordinate movement. The nervous system is characterized by a nerve ring that surrounds the mouth. A radial nerve branches off of the nerve ring and extends to each arm. – and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – yesterday Yusuf Abramjee  donated $25 (thanks SO MUCH  Yusuf 🙂 )  which brings my total raised to $5 900 only $350 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) .

Yesterday I watched “Teach girls bravery, not perfection“ – a Ted Talk by Reshma Saujani – in the talk Reshma says we need to teach girls bravery not perfection and I wholeheartedly agree with her because truly it is bravery not perfection that leads to progress.  Watch “Teach girls bravery, not perfection“ below:

Day 2097: Believe in your Dreams

Believe in your dreams and capacities if you don’t nobody else will –that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 35 PM on day 2097 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 1 Chronicles 16, learn one new thing – “Deer are essentially red-green color blind like some humans. Their color vision is limited to the short [blue] and middle [green] wavelength colors. As a result, deer likely can distinguish blue from red, but not green from red, or orange from red.”- have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign   – raised $5 875 only $375 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Yesterday I felt like my dreams were being ground into the dust but today is a new day and I’ve just decided that I’ll believe in all my dreams no matter how impractical or far-fetched I know myself best if I don’t believe that God has given me enough talent, skill and ability to turn my dreams into reality then nobody else will either so I’m officially backing God working through me now and forevermore.

Day 2096: 25 Smiles Campaign Five Months Later

Teamwork will get you further than working by yourself ever will – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 2096 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read James 4: 8, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Flag of Switzerland. The flag of Switzerland consists of a red flag with a white cross (a bold, equilateral cross) in the centre. It is one of only two square sovereign-state flags, the other being the flag of Vatican City.-and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign – raised $5 875 only $375 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Day 2095: “Holes Inside” by Joe Brooks

When all that you’ve tried, leaves nothing but holes inside,
It seems like you’re wired, to stay here held in time,
Cause nothing seems to change, oh no.
No nothing’s gonna change, at all.
I can see it in your face, the hope has gone away.

If you hold tight, shadows will be lost in the light.
Oh cause sometimes, fate and your dreams will collide.
So don’t walk away from me,
Don’t walk away from me,
Don’t walk away from me.

– Joe Brooks, “Holes Inside”

It’s 12 : 26  PM on day 2095 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Psalm 32: 8, have breakfast, learn one new thing -In 1937, the Walt Disney Studios released its first fully animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and pioneered a new form of family entertainment.- and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign   – raised $5 875 only $375 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Recently I heard “Holes Inside” by Joe Brooks I love the lyrics if you hold tight, shadows will be lost in the light. Oh cause sometimes, fate and your dreams will collide maybe because it is true or maybe because I want it to be true. Listen to “Holes Inside” below:

Day 2094: Remembering Jenna Lowe

“Love is a verb, people should do love.” – Jenna Lowe

It’s 12 : 38  PM on day 2094 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Philippians 4:13, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Swans can also fly. A baby swan is called a Cygnet. The name of the constellation Cygnus is from the Latin word for swan.- and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign   – raised $5 875 only $375 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Today marks the one year anniversary of Jenna Lowe’s death  (Jenna had a rare degenerative disease called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension after a potentially life-saving double lung transplant she spent many months in the hospital before she passed away on this day last year) although I never met Jenna in person we did tweet each other she taught me that we live on in the lives we touch (Jenna’s life continues to touch the lives of others through the Jenna Lowe Trust). Rest in peace Jenna I will never forget you every sunny afternoon I go outside, look up at the sky and think of you I live for two now – I live for me and I live for you.
