Day 2487: Be Helpful But Don’t Be Used

Always be helpful but be careful not to be used– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 05 PM on day 2487 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Romans 12: 9,  have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $1 600 only $10 900 more to raise  by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

This morning I realized my helpful nature makes it possible for people to use me -some people find out what I do (which they usually do from my very proud father even though I’ve asked him to please not tell anyone ) and it’s like they start seeing Dollar signs and a short while later you best believe some of them will show up at the door with an elaborate charity idea that they want me to get funding for – I’ve learned to politely say no and although I often feel bad about it I do so because I know  that 50% of people get into the non-profit sector either to boost their egos or worse to make a profit I refuse to be a party to that.

Day 2482: Be Mushy Sometimes

It’s okay to be mushy sometimes – that’s what I’m realizing.

It’s 2 : 28 PM on day 2482 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Isaiah 61:1, go visit people, have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $1 400 only $11 100 more to raise  by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Recently I’ve realized it’s okay to be mushy sometimes I’m usually very measured in my expression of emotion but I’m beginning to understand that sometimes it’s okay to be a big bowl of mush because people need to know that I love and care about them.

Day 2472: Be the Human Ladder

“The best way to happiness is to invest in the happiness of others.” – Andy Mashaile

It’s 12 : 29  PM on day 2472 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 1 Corinthians 16: 13 have breakfast, learn a new word – Vexatious adj. 1. Full of annoyance or distress; harassed. 2. Causing or creating vexation; annoying. “Her ex-husband put her in a vexatious situation.” and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised $410 only $12 090 more to raise in 361 days to help 50 kids with clubfoot (it won’t be easy but we can do this i know it).

This morning I realized that although it’s great to have personal success it’s even greater to create and unlock opportunities for others to succeed I’m so happy to be the human ladder on which people climb to reach their dreams.

Day 2458: Love Covers Over a Multitude of Sins

Love covers over a multitude of sins – that’s what I’ve realized

It’s 11 : 22 AM on day 2458 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, have breakfast,  read Proverbs 10: 17 and learn a new word – Definitions for notabilia
matters, events, or items worthy of note.

Recently I realized that love, whether it flows from me or flows towards you, covers over a multitude of sins although I’m still trying to figure out if my intense love for some people is making me a walkover.

Day 2437: Intentionally and With Love

“It’s never crowded along the extra mile.” – Wayne Dyer

It’s 11 : 51  AM on day 2437 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,   have breakfast, read Luke 24:49  and learn a new word – Definitions for zugzwang
Chess. a situation in which a player is limited to moves that cost pieces or have a damaging positional effect.

Today I realized that there’s nothing better than doing things intentionally and with love it really touches the heart because very few people in the world go the extra mile these days.

Day 2429: Don’t Engage With Hate

Don’t engage with hate– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 10 : 33 AM on day 2429 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Micah 7:18-19 and learn a new word – Specious [spe·cious] adj.  1. Having the ring of truth or plausibility but actually fallacious. “A specious argument.” 2. Deceptively attractive

Recently I realized that in the real world and on social media it’s best not to engage with hate if you know a conversation that you choose to start or engage in is going to end badly why start or engage in the conversation in the first place – don’t engage with hate.

Day 2428: People Before Things ALWAYS

People before things ALWAYS – that’s always my message to the world.

It’s 11 : 07 AM on day 2428 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Isaiah 26: 12 and learn a new word – Quixotic
adj. 1. Idealistic without regard to practicality; impractical. 2. Impulsive: tending to act on whims or impulses. “It was clearly a quixotic case against the defendant.”

This morning, like every other morning, I prayed and counted my blessings I noticed that on my gratitude list I always mention the people I am grateful for and health before I mention the things I am grateful for because I know that people and health, unlike things, are irreplaceable.

Day 2425: Labels and Me

Labels limit people– that’s what I know.

It’s 11 : 20 AM on day 2425 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Matthew 6: 9, and learn a new word – Acerbic [a·cer·bic] adj. Sharp or biting, as in character or expression. “The director occasionally allowed an acerbic tone to an otherwise subtle dialogue.”

This morning I was thinking about my evolving relationship with labels first I thought of myself as disabled, then I thought of myself as differently-abled and now I will say my movement and speech are affected because I have a neurological condition called Cerebral Palsy it will probably take a lot longer to say that than just to say I’m disabled or differently-abled but it’s more factual and has less negative connotations than the words disabled or differently-abled do.

Day 2423: Be Your First Choice

Be your first choice for everything – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 10 : 48 AM on day 2423 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Jeremiah 17:5,  have breakfast and learn a new word – Definitions for minatory
menacing; threatening.

Recently I found myself wishing that just once I was somebody’s first choice and thankfully I was to that person who showed up for me but now I’m realizing I should be okay even if I’m everybody else’s second choice because I should be my first choice for everything.

Day 2381: Being Present and the Gift of our Full Presence

Being present makes every moment more beautiful – that’s what I keep realizing,

It’s 11 : 25  AM on day 2381 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Psalm 27: 4 , have breakfast   and learn a new word – Pernicious (per·ni·cious) adj Having a harmful effect, particularly in a gradual or subtle way. “The hostile takeover will have a pernicious effect on the business.”

Yesterday someone came by to visit and in that moment I chose to put my laptop away and be in that moment with him and it actually added something to the interaction I believe when people make an effort to show us that we matter to them the least we can do is give them our physical, mental and emotional presence. The world is alone together let’s stop the epidemic of disconnection by making and maintaining connections in real-life.
