Day 2178: Keep Your Peace

“Do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace.”― Dalai Lama XIV

It’s 12 : 25  PM on day 2178 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Genesis 12:2-3  , have breakfast, learn one new thing –The first pay phone was invented in 1889 and by 1902, there were over 81,000 pay telephones in the United States. In 1889, the first public coin telephone was installed by inventor William Gray at a bank in Hartford, Conn.-   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –    raised $7 600 only  $4 900 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ) .

Today I realized that oftentimes in life people don’t just destroy peace we – the people whose peace is being destroyed – give them – our peace-destoyers – the power to do it which is good news because the moment each of us decides to keep our peace forevermore nobody in the world can take it away from us ever again.

Day 2099: Peace, Violence and Me

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves. –  Dalai Lama

It’s 11 : 29   AM on day 2099 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Psalm 31: 24, have breakfast, learn one new thing -If you look at the heat capacity of salt water, you will find that it is less than pure water. In other words, it takes less energy to raise the temperature of the salt water 1°C than pure water. This means that the salt water heats up faster and eventually gets to its boiling point first. – and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 900 only $350 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Today I’ve been thinking about the violence that is plaguing our world it continues to make me sad that people with ability I would love to have use their abilities to inflict pain on others it’s just not fair (don’t get me wrong I can still make a difference sitting on my wheelchair it just would be a lot easier if I could walk). Peace be upon our world.

Day 2090: Do the Random Things you Love

If the random things you do give you enjoyment or some serenity then they’re not random things – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 03  PM on day 2090 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Ephesians 2: 10, learn one new thing – Inexpensive mass-produced sunglasses were introduced to America by Sam Foster in 1929. Foster found a ready market on the beaches of Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he began selling sunglasses under the name Foster Grant from a Woolworth on the Boardwalk. -have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign   – raised $5 825 only $425 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Recently I’ve started spending every sunny afternoon outside just staring at nature I have no doubt people think I’m weird but it centres me and gives me such inner peace that I don’t really care what people think.

Day 2036: Give Peace

“Let us have peace.” –  Ulysses S. Grant

It’s 12 : 20 PM on day 2036 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Revelation 13,  learn one new thing – On land the mammal with the most teeth is the Giant Armadillo, which can as many 100 teeth in its jaws. In the oceans the Spinner Dolphin can have as many as 252 teeth in its long thin jaws.  –have breakfast and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign –raised $5 356  only $894  more to raise by 10 Jan 2017  (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :)  ).

Yesterday we – my family and I – attended a church service conducted by an Indian priest and much like in the Catholic church towards the end of the service we gave each other peace I wonder what would happen if we had inner-peace and gave it to those who didn’t in our daily lives (maybe not by going to each person and offering them peace as you would in a church but by simply being peaceful) I think the world would be a more peaceful place. Give peace to others by simply being peaceful.

Day 1955: Keeping my peace

Nobody can take your peace from you if you don’t let them– that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 10 : 11 AM on day 1955 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Ephesians 2, learn one new thing –After the unification of Italy in 1861, when Rome was still under the control of the Papal States, Turin was declared the first capital of Italy, as it was then the capital of the Piedmont region and home of ruling the monarchs, the Savoy.– have breakfast, spend time outside – it’s such a beautiful morning here so grateful to be alive –  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign – $1 120 raised so far so grateful 🙂 .

Today I realized that nobody can take your peace from you if you don’t let them which seems obvious but most of us give people the power to disturb our peace like it’s going out of fashion well it ends now peace, joy and happiness are my birthright and I’m staking my claim.

Day 1702: My thoughts on peace

“I think it’s naive to pray for world peace if we’re not going to change the form in which we live.” – Godfrey Reggio

It’s 12 :  10 PM on day 1702 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Hosea 1, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing – The ruins of Copán in Honduras contain some of the world’s best preserved Maya temples, tombs, and hieroglyphs. The ancient empire was at its zenith around A.D. 750. –  feed myself an egg sandwich for breakfast  and  promote my Educate Generations campaign– $2 899 raised so far :) .

Last night with a heavy heart I was thinking about all that was wrong with the world and how we could fix it I truly believe that if each of us chose peace over retaliation for the short period that we were on earth peace would be possible. Peace be on earth.

Day 1545: Are you the peace you want to see in the midst of chaos?

In the midst of chaos you have to be the peace you want to see– that’s what I realized this morning.

It’s 12 : 59 PM on day 1545 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Isaiah 30,   publish my Disability of the Day feature,   promote my Educate Generations campaign– Laurieann Janssens  donated $20 yesterday (thank you SO MUCH Laurieann :) ) which brings my total raised to $1 090 only $1 410  more to raise to  reach goal–  feed myself a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast, continue reading Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult – we had another power outage this time it lasted about two and a half hours I didn’t mind I enjoyed my reading time when life gives you lemons make lemonade 🙂 –  and continue promoting my campaign – still on $1 090.

This morning I realized in the midst of chaos you have to be the peace you want to see sometimes when people are yelling, screaming and in angst you tend to yell, scream and be anxious but maybe if you stay calm the people who are yelling, screaming and in angst will look at you and go what the heck are we doing. Are you the peace you want to see in the midst of chaos?

Day 1372: “Imagine” by John Lennon

Imagine there’s no heaven

It’s easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries

It isn’t hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer

But I’m not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us

And the world will be as one

–    John Lennon, “Imagine”

It’s 1  : 00 PM on day 1372 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 59,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  bran flakes  for breakfast  and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on 83% (sigh).

This morning after reading about the attack in Kenya I listened to “Imagine” by John Lennon the lyrics of the song are so powerful. Listen to “Imagine” by John Lennon below:

Day 741

Most of us hold on to all the wrong things in life– that’s what I keep learning 🙁

It’s 3 : 44 PM on day 741 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,   publish my Kid of the Week feature, practice typing with both hands,  work, feed myself a fish wrap for lunch and listen to music – I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Middle by Lauren Alaina.

Today my parents were complaining about how people wronged them and I remember saying let it go we as human beings hold on to grudges, bitterness and everything else we’re not supposed to be holding on to while we should be holding on to moments with the people we love that we’ll never get back my family gets annoyed with me when I preach gratitude and peace but really what’s the point of being angry, bitter and all the rest we only get one ride through this life might as well fill the world with love, light and fun.  Do you hold on to all the wrong things in life?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.

Day 284

When you fight something, you’re tied to it forever. As long as you’re fighting it, you’re giving it power. – Anthony de Mello

It’s 7: 42 PM on day 284 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself cheese puffs for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – thirteen days and counting 🙁 – read Blogzilly and Single Dad, Disabled Daughter – the first blog made me sad because my heart yearned for a dad like that while the second blog left me awestruck because I couldn’t imagine what it was like for a father to raise his disabled daughter by himself 🙂 –  watch TV, feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch some more TV and feed myself rice and curry for dinner.

As you know Osama Bin Laden was killed a few weeks ago and although I am glad that there is one less evil person in the world I also know that Osama himself was only a figurehead in that he already had a successor in place in the event of his death and I have no doubt that his successor also has a successor and so on and so on my point is the only way to combat terrorism is through planting the seeds of oneness in the heart of every human being. Do you fight for peace or fight against war?
