Day 2112: 25 Smiles Campaign Goal Surpassed Let’s Go For 50 Smiles

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”― Muhammad Ali

It’s 12 : 10  PM on day 2112 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Joshua 24: 15 , have breakfast, learn one new thing – If you were standing on the Moon, you would always see the Earth in exactly the same position, while the stars and the Sun moved around in the sky. The Moon takes 27.3 days to complete an orbit around the Earth. And this the same amount of time that it takes to turn once on its axis. -and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – Anonymous  donated $20, Seemachechi donated $50 and Anush Alex donated $250 (thanks SO MUCH Anon, Seemachechi and Anush 🙂 ) which brings my total raised to $6 480 (thanks SO SO MUCH everyone for your support goal surpassed but campaign continues until the original end date, Jan 10 2017 [see next paragraph for details])

Last night I surpassed my 25 Smiles Campaign goal (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) since there’s so much time left before the end of the campaign on January 10, 2017 I have decided to double my fundraising target to try and raise enough money to sponsor 25 more smiles so by January 10, 2017 I’m hoping to raise $12 500 which will help Smile Train sponsor 50 cleft surgeries. If you would like to contribute to my goal of sponsoring 25 more smiles log on to bit.ly/Give25Smiles and make a donation (thank you so much in advance).

[Update January 12, 2017: Campaign ended 2 days ago. Final total raised is $10 317.04 [enough money to sponsor 41 smiles]]

Day 2111: Honoured to be a Mail & Guardian 200 Young South African 2016

Reality is sometimes a thousand times better than fantasy – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 11 : 24  AM on day 2111 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 1 John 4: 12, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Jupiter is the most massive planet in our Solar System, meaning it also has the highest gravity. If you stood on Jupiter – you cannot because it does not have a solid surface – than you would weigh two and a half times what you would on Earth. -and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – Deepthichechi and Jiya donated $125 each  (thanks SO MUCH Deepthichechi and Jiya   🙂 )  which brings my total raised to $6 160 only $90 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) [Thanks also to Brent Lindeque who wrote a post about me on Good Things Guy titled Nisha Varghese… a real South African hero has just joined the “Top 200 Young South African” alumni ] .

Yesterday I was humbled and honoured to find out that I’m on the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans list (every year the Mail & Guardian picks 200 South Africans from different fields of expertise and puts them on the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans list) I still can’t believe I made it on the list I’m truly humbled to be listed alongside so many phenomenal young South Africans reality is sometimes a thousand times better than fantasy.

Day 2110: My Real Greatest Fear

Day 2109: Defining Your Challenges

Unless you make a conscious decision to define your challenges your challenges will end up defining you– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 11  PM on day 2109 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Ephesians 5: 25, have breakfast, learn one new thing – As we get older, the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die. Yesterday I decided to do something out-of-the-box I had our housekeeper write down $340 To Raise For Smile Train on a piece of paper after which I asked my brother to stick it on the side of my wheelchair and take a picture of it (to post on social media) and in so doing I sort of took what was supposed to be my biggest stumbling block and turned it into a stepping stone.

Day 2108: Why I am grateful for my wheelchair every day

Be grateful even for the things you sometimes wish you didn’t have to have– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 15  PM on day 2108 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read John 1: 16, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Timeline of Women’s Suffrage Granted, by Country. This morning as I was listing out loud all the things I was grateful for my mom heard me say wheelchair it surprised her she repeated the word almost as if asking a question and I said something like yes, wheelchair because although I would rather not need one I am grateful to have one because I know there are people who need a wheelchair but don’t have one we must all be grateful even for the things we sometimes wish we didn’t have to have.

Day 2107: Rejection, Life and Me

When rejected maintain a good attitude because NOBODY owes you anything in this life you have to sow 100 days to reap 1 day – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 2107 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Romans 15: 33, learn one new thing – On November 21, 1783 the first free flight carrying a human occurred in Paris, France. Yesterday I was having a tough day lots of rejection and being ignored what I learned was to maintain a good attitude through it all because NOBODY owes me anything in this life I have to sow 100 days to reap 1 day.

Day 2106: Writing and Me

Writing is cathartic – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 :  38 PM on day 2106 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 2 Corinthians 15: 7, learn one new thing – After the Greek philosophers Pythagoras, in the 6th century BC, and Parmenides, in the 5th, recognized that the Earth is spherical, the spherical view spread rapidly in the Greek world. Around 330 BC, Aristotle maintained on the basis of physical theory and observational evidence that the Earth was spherical.- have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Recently I started keeping a personal diary again typing down my innermost personal thoughts has done me more good than I ever thought it would it’s like as soon as I type down my feelings they get transferred from my heart into the page it’s pretty cool actually.

Day 2105: Happy Father’s Day Dad

My 3 Favourite Dadisms

1. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket
2. Obedience is better than sacrifice
3. God only gives you a certain amount of time to make money don’t squander it/if you squander it it’s your own fault

Happy Father’s Day Dad 🙂 .

Day 2104: “Your Body Is A Wonderland” by John Mayer

Life would be so dull without music – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 2104 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, learn one new thing – Thewissen says that whales are more closely linked to an extinct pig-like animal, often known as India’s pig or Indohyus, while hippos are closely related to living pigs. But this isn’t accurate according to Theodor. “What Thewissen is saying is that Indohyus is the closest relative of whales – and we agree.- read 6: 21 , have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).
