Day 1834: Extraordinary Lives and Extraordinary Sacrifices

Extraordinary lives require extraordinary sacrifices – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 1834  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, read Luke 24,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,  learn one new thing –They mate at any time of the year. The male rhino has a breeding ritual to attract a female. He will brush his horn over the ground, charge at bushes, rushes back and forth and frequently sprays urine. The females are known to reject the males aggressively at first until she succumbs (note: today is World Rhino Day let’s take a moment to appreciate these majestic creatures) –  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $5 025 raised so far with 11 days still to go till the end of the campaign (thanks SO MUCH everyone :) ) – and watch the Google Hangout titled “Finding joy in your job” – it was great.

Yesterday I realized that extraordinary lives require extraordinary sacrifices when you choose to blaze the trail know that people will ignore you, leave you and laugh at you do it anyway because all of us were born to put something into the world that wasn’t there before.

Day 499

Whatever happens on a given day you’ve got to show up and be the best that you can be – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 7 : 36 PM on day 499 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Genesis 10 as part of my ongoing quest to learn more about the Bible,  prepare and publish my Disability of the Day feature, work, feed myself  a polony sandwich for breakfast, work some more,    feed myself a banana muffin – our neighbor who we didn’t know brought them over (only we could live somewhere for nine years and not know our neighbors)  – for lunch, finish working, watch TV and   feed myself another banana muffin for dinner.

As you know – if you’ve been reading this blog regularly – my parents have their spats now and then but last night thing escalated to who another level they started arguing at night – the usually argued in the afternoon and went to bed at night – which meant none of us – my sister, my brother or I – got any sleep but you know I still got up bright and early and did my job because I knew that extraordinary people did things ordinary people did not do. Are you the best that you can be every day regardless of the circumstances?

If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://bit.ly/hC7vOu

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!

Day 327

The adjective extraordinary is earned – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 7: 55 PM on day 327 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself scrambled eggs and bread  for breakfast, donate to the Somali people via The World Food Programme – (see why below) I am SO happy that I got to give  twenty-four meals today 🙂 – feed myself steamed vegetables for lunch, prepare my Kid of the Week feature for tomorrow and tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck aside from the donation Emma (@ladyday93) made last evening.

A couple of days ago I saw a story on the seven o’ clock news about a six-year-old Somalian girl who walked 400km on foot just so she could eat something and after much internal debate as to whether I should help out in some way I decided to donate $6.50 – half of what remains of my charity budget – to the people of Somalia via The World Food Programme because I believe that if all of us vote with our actions we will be the difference in somebody’s life. Have you earned the right to be called extraordinary?
