What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient… highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it’s almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed – fully understood – that sticks; right in there somewhere. – Cobb (played by Leonardo Dicaprio in the movie Inception).

It’s 8: 09 PM on day 316 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, do research on YouTube Direct – a platform that allows bloggers to have user-generated content directly onto their blogs (see why below) – tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, brush my teeth once more and watch TV – I feel somewhat under the weather I think I’m going to call it an early night.

Last night I was watching the evening news when Make every day a Mandela Day – the slogan of the Mandela Day initiative – appeared on the screen and in that moment a light bulb came on in my head and I decided that I would create a page on this blog called Every Day Hero where ordinary people like you can upload a video of yourself or someone else doing something that gives back to your town, your country or even the world with the intention of inspiring others to do the same.
