Day 2208: Family and the End of the School Term

“Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.” – Michael J. Fox

It’s 10 : 18  AM on day 2208 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, pray, read 1 John 4:18-19, and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today is the end of the third school term here in South Africa and since my parents are both teachers and my brother’s still in high school end of term means that the house is going to be full and noisy but I wouldn’t have it any other way I love my family.

Day 2175: Say I Love You

Say the words I love you more often it won’t kill you – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 03  PM on day 2175 of my journey towards independence and I managed to   pray, have breakfast, read Revelation 1:7, learn one new thing –Although kopi luwak is a form of processing rather than a variety of coffee, it has been called the most expensive coffee in the world with retail prices reaching €550 / US$700 per kilogram.-   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – yesterday Meg donated $25   (thanks SO MUCH  Meg your ongoing support means a lot 🙂  )  which brings the total  raised to $7 500 only  $5 000 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) .

Recently I’ve started forcing myself to say the words I love you more often it’s uncomfortable because I am not the mushy sort but since people can’t read my heart I’ll keep saying it hopefully with time it will feel less uncomfortable.

Day 2170: Love Completely

Love people with all your heart even when you know they don’t love you back as much – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 33  PM on day 2170 of my journey towards independence and I managed to   pray, have breakfast, read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, learn one new thing – Known prey of the Megamouth Shark consists entirely of planktonic animals, including euphausiid shrimps, copepods, and the Pancake Jellyfish (Atolla vanhoeffeni). Yet most plankton is found near the surface, so it is something of a mystery how Megamouth manages to find enough to eat. –   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –   raised $7 225 only  $5 275 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ) .

Today I realized that some people don’t love me nearly as much as I love them it’s neither good, bad, right or wrong it’s just the way things are (or maybe it’s just my perception) if I didn’t love these people I would probably just call it quits but since I do I have decided to put in as much love as is necessary to keep my relationships afloat.

Today marks the two year anniversary of my paternal grandmother’s death I miss her potato fry, our physiotherapy sessions and her funny life stories but most of all I miss sitting across from her and holding her hand. I miss you every day Ammachi but I know you’re alive every time I remember you and I do so often with fondness and a smile (especially when I eat fried-blackened sardines I think you were the only person who loved it as much as I did).

Not only does cartilage grow, but the earlobes elongate from gravity.–have breakfast and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign – raised $3 312 only $2 938 more to raise by 10 Jan 2017  (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :)  ).

This morning I was thinking how sad it was that most people will never get to meet my parents, the real stars of my story, people see what I do but nobody sees my father who wakes me up every morning, puts me in my wheelchair and gives me water or my mother who sometimes has to take leave from work to stay with me because our housekeeper didn’t show up for work…nobody sees that but really behind this girl who aspires to be great are two extraordinary parents who love all their children with everything they have I hope one day I will love humanity the way my parents love me and my siblings. To mommy and daddy (dad I know you will see this because you’re always stalking me on Facebook LOL and for once I’m grateful because it will spare me the embarrassment of having to send you a link to this post): It’s not anybody’s birthday or anniversary but I just wanted you both to know that I appreciate the things you do for all three of us every day because of the two of you I know that love is a verb.

It’s 11 : 29 AM on day 1963 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Philippians 4, learn one new thing – When we shiver, our bodies are doing the opposite of sweating. Today I realized yet again that I’m blessed beyond measure it’s really incredible and humbling people I don’t know (and I mean people I haven’t even interacted with on social media) are stepping up to help me help others I can actually feel the world pulling for me I feel like I’m enveloped in love. Thank you God for blessing me so richly I will try every day to become the person that you created me to be.
