Day 2354: All we want in this life

All we all want is to know that we matter to people– that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 11  :  23 AM on day 2354 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, have breakfast, read 1 Timothy 4: 7 and learn a new word – Luddite [lud·dite] n. A person opposed to increased industrialization or new technology, and is often someone who is incompetent when using new technology. “He was a luddite that preferred his typewriter over a computer.”

This morning I woke up to find that someone had done something really kind in my honour which totally made my day because she thought of me and took it upon herself to act on my behalf (small-big-things always make my heart skip a beat).

Day 2302: Small Acts of Heroism

Heroism is also in the small acts – that’s what I’d like the world to know.

It’s 9: 50 AM on day 2302 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  pray, read     Isaiah 65: 17  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $9 625.04 only  $2 875.96 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

This morning I realized heroism is also in the small acts it’s letting someone else have the last piece of cake, it’s giving someone right of way in traffic, it’s letting someone go ahead of you in line at the grocery store… it’s putting other people’s needs and wants before your own.

Day 2292: Kindness – an all-natural drug that gives you a forever high

“Life is made up, not of great sacrifices or duties, but of little things, in which smiles and kindness, and small obligations given habitually, are what preserve the heart and secure comfort.” – Humphry Davy

It’s 11: 18 AM on day 2292 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  -pray, read Galatians 4:4-5, have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $9 311.04 only  $3 118.96 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

This morning I called some people who’ve made a difference in my life just to say happy holidays and thank you it made me (and still makes me) feel so good inside (kindness is an all-natural drug that gives you a forever high).

Day 2284: Why Christmas is my Favourite Time of Year

Christmas is my favourite time of year because it’s the only time of year I can be as kind as I want to be without being thought of as weird – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 12: 24 PM on day 2284 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Romans 12: 15 have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $9 261.04 only  $3 238.96 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today I realized that Christmas is my favourite time of year because it’s the only time of year I can be as kind as I want to be without being thought of as weird (my kindness sort of makes sense to the world during Christmas time they assume it’s because of the time of the year, whereas at other times of the year my kindness may seem weird to some).

Day 2258: My Christmas Project

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” – Calvin Coolidge

it’s 12: 07  PM on day 2258 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, have breakfast,  read Thessalonians 5:18,   work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $9 111.04 only  $3 388.96 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ) – and spend time with family.

Today I decided that in the lead up to Christmas I would call, message or email people who’ve had an impact on my life this year (I apologize in advance if my expression of appreciation is a bit much for some I promise i’ll make it quick and painless).

Day 2189: Repaying Cruelty with Kindness

Every time you experience cruelty do a nice thing for someone or say a nice thing to someone.– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 05  PM on day 2189 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, have breakfast, read 1 Thessalonians 1:3   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –    raised  $7 625 only  $4 875 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ) .

Yesterday I decided that every time I experience cruelty I will do a nice thing for someone or say a nice thing to someone which is my way of fighting fire with water.

Day 2024: Kindness and Money

Kindness doesn’t cost a cent– that’s my message to the world

It’s 11 : 44 AM on day 2024 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Revelation 1,  learn one new thing –The Leaning Tower of Pisa took 344 years to build, beginning in August 1173. It began to lean in 1178 once construction on the second floor had begun. The lean was due to one side sinking into the soft ground. – have breakfast, go shopping with mom, and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign – raised $3 822 only $2 428 more to raise by 10 Jan 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :) ).

.

Recently seeing that my neighbour was going through a hard time I told some of my Twitter followers about her and asked them to write her short messages of support (I’m going to print it out and ask mom to drop it off) I know it won’t bring her husband back but if it makes her feel a little less alone it’s so worth it small acts of kindness could possibly pull people out of the depths of despair.

Day 1981: #RAK16

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. – Lao Tzu

It’s 12 : 10 PM on day 1981 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 1 Timothy 6,  learn one new thing – When you cut an onion, it releases a gas called, ready for this, Propanethiol S-oxide. When mixed with certain enzymes in the onion, it creates a sulfur gas. These gases then get to your eyes and create a mild acid which irritates the eyes. – watch Morning Live – yup you guessed it my  hero without a cape Catherine Constantinides was on the show talking about her win at the Ubuntu Awards and her work with the #SaharawiPeople (my family often jokes that I only switch on the TV when Catherine’s on and I can’t even deny it because it’s the truth at this point i’m not even ashamed of it anybody who’s not a fan of Catherine’s has some serious problems LOL 🙂 I sincerely aspire to her humility and character)  –   have breakfast,  and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign – yesterday Catherine Cook donated $25 (thanks SO MUCH Catherine your ongoing support means a lot :) ) which brings  the total raised to  $2 662  only $3 588 more to raise by 10 Jan 2017  (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :)  ).

Recently I took part in #RAK16 started by Brent Lindeque – the concept of RAK is simple: Do a good deed, post it on social media and nominate your friends to do good deeds too using #RAK16 at the end of your social media postings – my family (asked by me) handed out apples to the car guard and the lady who sells toothpicks outside our local frozen foods store. I nominate all you reading this to go out there and do random acts of kindness.

Day 1968: Intentionally ooze kindness

Intentionally ooze kindness – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 11 : 49 AM on day 1968 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 1 Thessalonians 1, learn one new thing  – “In contrast to the fruit fly that has one eightieth the body size and flaps its wings 200 times each second, the much larger honeybee flaps its wings 230 times every second.”– have breakfast  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign –  yesterday Priyachechi donated $25  ( thank you SO MUCH chechi i’m a bottomless pit but you know you love me LOL :) ) which brings my total raised to $1 742 only $4 508 more to raise by 10 Jan 2017  (SO  GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :)  ) .

Today I decided that from this day onwards I was going to intentionally ooze kindness some people might misinterpret my intention but I’m going to ooze kindness anyway (here goes nothing).

Day 1922: The Kind Autorickshaw Driver

The smallest acts of kindness take up the biggest space in one’s heart – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 1 :  49 PM on day 1826 of my journey towards independence and day 18 of our India trip traveled 3 hours from my dad’s house back to my uncle’s and had a fantastic vegetarian lunch at Rasam .

Two days ago outside of Shines – a restaurant – an autorickshaw driver saw my sister carry me from my wheelchair into the front seat of our car and he took it upon himself to load my wheelchair into our boot which would have been a kind gesture in itself but he went further by coming over to the front passenger side of the vehicle and folding his hands together in Namaste as if to show his respect for me I was so touched I didn’t know what to say.
