Yesterday I launched #DifferentIsCOOL – a campaign aiming to promote the idea that different is COOL and that there’s strength and beauty in diversity – to participate use #DifferentIsCOOL and tweet or Facebook me a picture or video stating what makes you different and how it adds value to the world.

Day 2866: “Kids Meet A Little Person”

All of us can do most things some of us just have to do them differently – that’s my message to the world

It’s 12 : 15 PM on day 2866 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, do some work and spend time outside – it’s such a beautiful day outside i’m so grateful to be alive to see it

A while ago I watched “Kids Meet A Little Person” I love both the adult and children in this video but most of all I love that the Kids Meet series is teaching people, in an entertaining way, that different is cool and that there’s beauty in diversity. Watch “Kids Meet A Little Person” below:

Day 909

People mean well but sometimes the things they say and the assumptions they make are insulting  – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 7  : 28 PM on day 909 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth, pray,  read Exodus 29, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature,go to church – the sermon was called A Shocking Story the Reverend shared with us the story of The Prodigal Son, explained that the story is not about the two sons but rather about the grace of the father and said something I will never forget he said you don’t understand grace until you understand that it can never be earned or deserved –feed myself a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, practice typing with both hands,   feed myself rice and curry for lunch, stretch my hamstrings, take a nap, feed myself Stir Fry for dinner and brush my teeth once more.

Today a close relative of ours came to visit and he said to my mother I saw someone like Nisha in the paper (translation: I saw a person in a wheelchair in the paper) she does motivational speaking Nisha can do that too I resent the implication that all people who are in wheelchairs are just like me or vice-versa I would much rather he said I saw a person in a wheelchair in the paper she does motivational speaking Nisha can do that too  because we people in wheelchairs are all different and have our own hopes, dreams and desires in spite of the fact that we are all in wheelchairs. Are you easily insulted by the things people say and assume in spite of the fact that you know that they have good intentions?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.
