Day 2610: Beauty and Pain

Do the little things that make you happy it really makes a big difference– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 30  PM on day 2610 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read  Psalm 85:8, and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – A HUGE thanks to the Jindalee Foundation who donated $100 yesterday which brings the total raised to  $4 488 only $8 012 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot.

Today in the middle of doing everything I just stopped to stare at our Jacaranda tree full of purple flowers and in that moment I was reminded that though there is immense pain in this world there is also immense beauty. If you look around and can’t find the beauty in life then be the beauty in life by showing up and being kinder than necessary.

Day 2304: Staying myself in a vain world

Learn to live in a vain world without feeling the need to change yourself  – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 11: 04 AM on day 2304 of my journey towards independence and I managed to -pray, read Colossians 3:9-10   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – Ashwell Gleason  donated $5   (thanks Aswell 🙂 )  which brings the total  raised to $9 655.04 only  $2 844.96 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Recently I went to an event and this lovely woman approaches us (me and my family) looks at me and asks my mom what’s wrong with her face (I have a few moles and blackheads) I was shocked by the bluntness of the question but I won’t suddenly start wearing make-up to look flawless because some people have a problem with the way I actually look I’m human and imperfect I refuse to put a mask on for the world I’d rather have a flawless heart, a flawless spirit and a flawless soul than a flawless face. Take me or leave me but world I refuse to let you change me.

Day 2211: The Beauty in Challenge

There’s beauty in imperfection and challenge – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 9 : 58  AM on day 2211 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Proverbs 17: 17 , have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Yesterday it occurred to me that my life is beautiful precisely because it’s so imperfect and challenging I notice and appreciate things that most people may not.

Day 1674: Dove Choose Beautiful

“The absence of flaw in beauty is itself a flaw.” -Havelock Ellis

It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 1674 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,    read Ezekiel 33, continue reading How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie – we had loadshedding (enforced power cuts) for two hours this morning so I decided to make the best of it and read never will I give Eskom (the power company) the power to ruin my day 🙂 –     publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing – Helium is the second-most abundant element in the universe, though it is much less common on Earth.   –  feed myself an egg  sandwich for breakfast and  promote my Educate Generations campaign– $2 638 raised so far  :)

Yesterday I watched “Dove Choose Beautiful” – a campaign in which Dove put up signs that read “beautiful” and “average” above the entryways of shopping centres in five cities, San Francisco, Shanghai, Delhi, London and Sao Paulo, and watched as women contemplated about which door to enter – I was so touched by the campaign whoever comes up with ideas for Dove’s ad campaigns should receive some sort of award. Day 1324: How Do YOU Define Yourself by Lizzie Velasquez

Recently I watched How Do YOU Define Yourself – a Ted Talk by Lizzie Velasquez about how she dealt with being dubbed “The Worlds Ugliest Woman” – Lizzie’s strength and self-confidence really touched me I don’t care what people say I think Lizzie is the true definition of beauty.  Watch How Do YOU Define Yourself by Lizzie Velasquez below:

Day 1181: ‘Am I pretty or ugly?’ girls ask YouTube

Girls, embrace your flaws. Don’t compare or compete with others. What makes you different, makes you beautiful. Don’t let the crowd’s standards define you. You’re beautiful in your way.~ Mae Claire Dogillo

It’s 12  : 12 PM on day 1181 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth, pray, read 1 Chronicles 14,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  feed myself  All Bran Flakes and boiled egg for breakfast, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and spend time outside – when I’m outside in the beauty of nature all the pain and challenges I go through every day almost seem worth it what’s muscle pain compared to the feeling of the sun on your skin.

Yesterday I saw a video of girls asking the YouTube community if they are pretty or not I was heartbroken we must be doing something really wrong as a society if girls have to go to cyberspace to hear that they are pretty.

Day 1147: The power of Adobe Photoshop

The kind of beauty you see in magazines is nothing but an illusion – that’s what I want young girls to know.

It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 1147 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,   read 2 Kings 5,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature, continue reading Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas D. Kristof  and Sheryl WuDunn, feed myself boiled egg and Bran Flakes for breakfast, read some more and go fetch my sister at the airport.

Yesterday I saw an amazing video that proves to young girls that the kind of beauty they see in magazines is nothing but an illusion. Watch The power of Adobe Photoshop below:

Day 310

Each one of you has your own platform. Do not let the trappings here fool you. Mine is a stage in a studio, yours is wherever you are with your own reach, however small or however large that reach is.

Maybe it’s 20 people, maybe it’s 30 people, 40 people, your family, your friends, your neighbors, your classmates, your classroom, your co-workers. Wherever you are, that is your platform, your stage, your circle of influence. That is your talk show, and that is where your power lies.

– Oprah Winfrey

It’s 8: 36 PM on day 310 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a hotdog for breakfast, watch a few WordPress tutorial videos – I wanted to know what those widgets in my dashboard were for and I have to say I was AMAZED you can create your own chatroom and do all sorts of other stuff…I LOVE WordPress 🙂 –tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch TV, feed myself oranges for dinner and brush my teeth once more.

Yesterday I was watching an episode of The Tyra Banks Show which focused on her B.I.O (Beauty Inside and Out) Campaign that aims to expand the definition of beauty for women around the world and it was only as I was watching that I realized how narrow the definition of beauty was so in the spirit of creating a change I am asking you to leave comments on this post telling me what you love about the way you look I LOVE my bone structure it’s different but it’s totally unique to me. Are you using your circle of influence to make this world a better place?

Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://twitter.com/Nisha360

If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://bit.ly/hC7vOu

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!

Day 172

Beauty is confidence radiating from within – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 8: 00 PM on day 172 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a chicken polony sandwich for a snack, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – my cousin made another donation of a $100 – thanks again chechi 🙂 –     feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch TV and feed myself crackers for dinner.

Today as I was watching Style By Jury – a makeover show – I couldn’t help but notice that more than the make-up or the clothes what really made a difference was the ballroom dancing lessons that they’d given her and that’s when I realized that the reason I could face the world – pun intended –   without any make-up on was because I knew that I was more than what I looked like. Does your beauty give you confidence or does your confidence give you beauty? 🙂

Day 137

The creative individual has the capacity to free himself from the web of social pressures in which the rest of us are caught. He is capable of questioning the assumptions that the rest of us accept. – John W. Gardner

It’s 8: 59 PM on day 137 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign for a few hours – someone promised to make a donation – YAY!! 🙂 – feed myself bun and chicken for breakfast, feed myself rice and curry for lunch, went to physiotherapy – I know there’s no cure for Cerebral Palsy but I feel like I’ve turned a corner with my health before I use to exercise on a daily bases just to tell my physiotherapist that I did but now I do it for myself because I know there’s nothing in it for her 🙂 – watch TV and feed myself Custard for dinner.

Today I was thinking a lot about make-up and beauty and wondering if I was the only woman in the world who felt completely comfortable in my own skin without any make-up on so I asked my followers on Twitter can you go a week without wearing make-up and to my amazement my older more mature followers said I do so quite often whilst my younger more inexperienced followers said I don’t think so which led me to the conclusion that when you have confidence you don’t need to hide behind a mask. Do you go along just to get along or do you ask questions that others wouldn’t even dream of? 🙂
