Day 2677: Carry On

When the world says NO be determined every single day and choose to carry on. Be a very kind bulldog– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 1 : 24 PM on day 2677 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Psalm 40:3,  have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –   A HUGE thanks to  who donated Air To Air Africa Ballooning  who donated $10   which brings the total raised to  $6 826 only $5 674 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot.

Today I realized that if you have the courage and persistence to carry on when the world says no things tend to work out (we often give up to easily in life but if we have the courage to ask when we think people say no and carry on if they do success will be ours)

Day 2382: “How To Find The Courage To Do Anything” by Marie Forleo

Nothing you could do will be worse than doing nothing at all  – that’s my message to the world,

It’s 12 : 22  PM on day 2382 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Hosea 6:1-2, have breakfast  and learn a new word – Bifurcate; bifurcation (bi·fur·cate) v Divide into two branches or forks: “The river bifurcates at the base of the mountain.”

Recently I watched “How To Find The Courage To Do Anything” by Marie Forleo i learned so much from the video from now on in moment of fear I will ask myself what’s the worst that could happen if I don’t do this which will hopefully embolden me. Watch “How To Find The Courage To Do Anything” by Marie Forleo below:

Day 2257: The Different Forms of Courage

Sometimes courage is not in the big acts sometimes it’s putting yourself out there to be possibly rejected – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 10 :  30 AM on day 2257 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  pray,  have breakfast, read Nahum 1:3 and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –   yesterday Bithun Babu donated $100 (thanks SO MUCH Bithun) which brings the total  raised to $9111.04 only  $3 388.96  more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today I realized that sometimes courage is not in the big acts sometimes it’s putting yourself out there to be possibly rejected (most of us think courage is ziplining or bungee-jumping and yes sometimes it is but it’s also approaching somebody for something knowing they could possibly turn you down).

Day 1946: “Absa Prosper | Rise Again – The Story of Gaynor Young”

“I, who have died, am alive again today.” – Gaynor Young

It’s 12: 15 PM on day 1946 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 2 Corinthians 12,  learn one new thing – Hippopotamus Milk is Pink in Color. Hippopotamuses produce two unique skin secretions (so unique they’re named after the animal), “hipposudoric acid” and its analog “norhipposudoric acid”. It gives the hippopotamuses’ sweat a red coloration, commonly believed to be blood (it’s not). – have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign – yesterday Frank Burns and Justine Perry donated $15 each and Gaynor Young and Barbara Royce donated $250 together (thanks SO MUCH Frank, Justine, Gaynor and Barbara words cannot express how grateful I am to you guys 🙂 )  which brings my total raised to $705   only $5 545 more to raise in 363 days (SO HAPPY :)).

A while ago I watched “Absa Prosper | Rise Again – The Story of Gaynor Young” – Gaynor fell down an unguarded lift shaft in her 20s and lived to tell the tale – I was so moved by Gaynor’s strength and courage and I am profoundly honoured to call her my friend. Watch “Absa Prosper | Rise Again – The Story of Gaynor Young” below:

Day 1459: Stand up for people who can’t stand up for themselves

Stand up for people who can’t stand up for themselves even if it comes at a cost to you – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 30 PM on day 1459 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, go back to bed, pray, read Psalm 147,   publish my Disability of the Day feature,  stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself All Bran Flakes with banana  for breakfast and prepare for my upcoming campaign while listening to music.

Yesterday I stood up for someone who I felt was being victimized and even though I wasn’t the most popular person in the moment it felt good knowing I did the right thing. Do you stand up for people who can’t stand up for themselves even if it comes at a cost to you?

Day 1135: A Lesson in Courage Taught To Me by Shea Shawhan

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear –that’s what I keep learning.

It’s 12 : 20 PM on day 1135 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read 1 Kings 14,   publish my Disability of the Day feature,  feed myself  Bran Flakes  and boiled egg for breakfast,  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

Today I read ‘Shea should just have one of her seizures and die’: Special needs girl tormented with dozens of vile texts from bullies – and the abuse is so bad her mother has to sit with her at lunch for protection I was both heartbroken and inspired by this story heartbroken because anyone would bully someone just because they had special needs (not that there’s ever any good reason to bully someone) and inspired because Shea chooses to go to school every day knowing there are people waiting to torment her can you imagine how much courage that takes the next time I feel afraid I’ll think of Shea. Do you have courage?

Day 1020: The bravest song I’ve ever heard

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.– that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s 1  : 15  PM on day 1020 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to publish my Disability of the Day feature,  sleep -I lost track of time watching The Mentalist only went to bed after midnight -stretch my hamstrings,  brush my teeth, feed myself a boiled egg and All Bran Flakes for breakfast, pray, read Joshua 3,  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, tweet and Facebook about my campaign – still  no luck what hurts the most is not that people aren’t donating the money will come when it comes there’s still plenty of time what hurts the most is that people don’t seem to care that slavery still exist if we do care for the people who have nobody who will 🙁  –         and practice typing with both hands.

A couple of days ago I heard Warrior by Demi Lovato it is by far the bravest song I’ve ever heard. Listen to it below you’ll get what I mean:

Day 853

You can’t complain that people don’t see you when you don’t show them – that’s what I keep learning  🙂

It’s  3 : 23 PM on day 853 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to read a couple of chapters of The Bible, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature,  brush my teeth, feed myself  Appam and baked beans for breakfast, listen to music, entertain visitors and practice typing with both hands.

Last night it occurred to me that I always complain that people don’t see me while going out of my way to hide this blog from my community this blog good, bad or indifferent is who I am behind the wheelchair so today I took a leap of faith and shared yesterday’s post on my personal Facebook account whether people read it or not it’s up to them but tonight I will go to bed knowing I had the courage to show the people in my life all of me. Do you complain that you’re invisible while intentionally hiding yourself?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.

Day 746

Everybody can make their lives mean something– that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s  1 : 51 PM on day 746 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,   publish my Disability of the Day feature, work, practice typing with both hands,   feed myself  pasta and chicken for brunch and watch TV.

This morning I came across My Suicide Story (Hannah Novak) – a YouTube video about what led to a 17-year-old girl attempting suicide – what inspired me most about Hannah’s story was that she used her struggles to help others. Take a look:

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.

Day 348

An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea. – Buddha

It’s 7: 29 PM on day 348 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself an egg sandwich for breakfast, prepare my Kid of the Week feature for tomorrow – it took me two hours to compile it because I was crying while I was doing it – you will see why when you read it tomorrow – Rachel where ever you are please know that I NEVER EVER forget you rest in peace – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch TV, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – Al Navas (@pitbull1970) made his second donations–thanks Al :)– and feed myself a peanut butter sandwich for dinner.

This morning I was sitting at our dining table in complete silence when I finally decided that I would turn my diary – the entries since the beginning of my campaign – into a book I was on the fence about whether or not to do it ever since the idea first popped into my head a few months ago because I thought who would want to read it most days are so mundane but now I realize it’s so important to show people the daily grid of starting and managing a project like mine so that if someone does decide to start a project of their own they know not to give-up the first time they hear a no. Do you have the courage to put your ideas into action?
