Day 261

Common sense is not so common. – Voltaire

It’s 7: 09 PM on day 261 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign –no luck – read Life and Times of a Teenager With Disabilities and Bird on the Street – while I could totally relate to the first blog I found the second blog to be a lot more humorous 🙂 – feed myself a Burger for breakfast, open a packet of chips by myself – I had done it for the first time yesterday and I thought it was a fluke so glad it wasn’t 🙂 – watch TV, feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch some more TV, feed myself a bread and jam sandwich for dinner and brush my teeth once more.

Yesterday as I watching an episode of Dr. Phil entitled Overweight Teens Fight Back I realized that the solution to my brother’s weight problem was simple if the reason he gained weight was because he ate the wrong foods and didn’t exercise then it stood to reason that if we replaced those foods with good foods and encouraged him to exercise his weight would go down now if only I could get my parents onboard with this plan my mother is in denial while all my father does is criticize and enable him. Do you often make things more complicated than they actually are?

Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://twitter.com/Nisha360

if you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://bit.ly/hC7vOu

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!

    Wanted to say:

    hooray for opening chips!

Was wondering if you could apply that skill to other tight containers?

Seems like you learnt a lot from Overweight Teens Fight Back.

I wish your brother the best in his journey.

    In answer to your question:

Yes, I make things more complicated than they “really” are.

    Two reasons:

    1. I don’t trust in simple.

    2. I think complex = better.

Both Life and Times of a Teenager with a Disability and Bird on the Street are great blogs.

And in the computer world they also say: “Simple is hard”.

Meaning, it takes a lot of hard work to refine things to the point where they get simple for the user.

Thanks and in answer to your question no I haven’t tried to open tight containers although it is a REALLY good idea 🙂

I think complex = better I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before but that’s why I love so much blogging I get to hear different opinions

It’s often good to get recommendations about what you could do next based on the things you can already do. Success building upon success. (and giving them of course!)

I did some looking up on “complex being better”, and it seems that in a programming language called Python the principle is: “Complex is better than complicated”.

I also thought a lot about complexity theory.

A person might start out holding one thought or idea at a time.

Then they hold two ideas at a time which are the same.

Then they hold two which are opposite.

Then one idea feeds on the next idea and they are held together.

And this is how individuals and civilisation develop.

(Think of the systems of nature and culture which are around. You might perceive some detail of them, or you might get some of the picture).

And I’ll see if I can’t do something to publicise your watery campaign.

I do often believe also that the simplest ideas are often the finest.

Trying to remember that you did not ask me to defend or to explain: those are factors which often get into the way!

(But any reasoned idea ought to be able to be defended, explained, proven).

I love your theory you’ve actually opened my mind a little more and you are right any reasoned idea ought to be able to be defended, explained, proven.

Thank you for what you’re going to do for my campaign 🙂
