Day 1353: The relationship between Self-love, Self-respect and Crime

“Self-respect is the root of discipline: The sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself.” ― Abraham Joshua Heschel

It’s 1  : 00 PM on day 1353 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 40,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  bran flakes  for breakfast, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on 80% what hurts more than the lack of donations is the fact that people don’t seem to care that other people are dying of a disease that is both preventable and treatable I wonder what will become of the world if only a few of us care about people who are not our family and friends.

Yesterday morning I was thinking about the drive by shooting in California and the kidnappings of the schoolgirls in Nigeria and I asked myself what kind of people would kill and kidnap other people and answered people who don’t have self-love and self-respect if you love and respect yourself you wouldn’t give yourself permission to intentionally hurt other people because you love them as you love yourself.
