Day 2575: Why Crime Exists

Crime will exist as long as the majority continues to glamorize it – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 11: 47 AM on day 2575 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read 2 John 1:6  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 681 only $8 819 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

Today I was outraged to find out that a movie has been made about Oscar Pistorious – former South African Paralympian who murdered his girlfriend – why does the world continue to glamorize criminality all of us worldwide should take a stand and decide that while we will continue to strive to remedy the root causes of crime we will not give the criminals or their criminal actions more attention than they deserve

Day 2365: God, Me and Thieves

You’ve got to thank God for the close calls and near-misses – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 12 : 05 PM on day 2365 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Proverbs 14: 27,  have breakfast, and learn a new word – Contemporaneous (con·tem·po·ra·ne·ous) adj.  Originating, existing, or happening during the same period of time: “The contemporaneous court cases for the two defendants.”

Yesterday there was a break-in somewhere in our neighbourhood and the thieves escaped by jumping over our fence I think someone from the security company even fired a shot thankfully nobody was hurt and I was inside all I saw was the security guy running across our yard and returning to ask my mom to open the gate it has gotten me thinking though I have this habit of sitting outside enjoying nature but yesterday at the time I was inside on my laptop I know that was God watching out for me (thanks God I promise to make the most of this life).

Day 1353: The relationship between Self-love, Self-respect and Crime

“Self-respect is the root of discipline: The sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself.” ― Abraham Joshua Heschel

It’s 1  : 00 PM on day 1353 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 40,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  bran flakes  for breakfast, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on 80% what hurts more than the lack of donations is the fact that people don’t seem to care that other people are dying of a disease that is both preventable and treatable I wonder what will become of the world if only a few of us care about people who are not our family and friends.

Yesterday morning I was thinking about the drive by shooting in California and the kidnappings of the schoolgirls in Nigeria and I asked myself what kind of people would kill and kidnap other people and answered people who don’t have self-love and self-respect if you love and respect yourself you wouldn’t give yourself permission to intentionally hurt other people because you love them as you love yourself.

Day 197

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots. – Barbara Ehrenreich

It’s 10: 46 PM on day 197 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a cheese and lettuce  sandwich for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign  for a few hours – no luck – listen to music, feed myself rice and curry for lunch, hang out with my sister and cousin,  feed myself rice and curry for dinner, tweet about campaign some more –still  no luck – and watch The Oprah Winfrey Show – today’s episode was about Tyler Perry’s horrific childhood and although I was never abused physically or sexually I knew how he felt because every time I saw my father raise his hand to my mother or heard him call her a bitch I felt like a piece of me died 🙁

As you may know by now I LOVE South Africa with everything that I am however, I find it UNACCEPTABLE that human beings are being decapitated like animals in this beautiful country which is why I am calling on all South Africans to download Shout – a soundtrack featuring  the best musicians in South Africa (see music video below) – by texting SHOUT to 33335 all the proceeds will go to various charities and causes that help in the prevention of crime as well as to help victims of crime.  Do you stay silent about the challenges facing your country because you’re afraid of sounding unpatriotic?
