Day 600

You can’t blame a blind person for being blind– that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 4 : 35 PM on day 600 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth,   feed myself an avocado for breakfast, publish my Disability of the Day feature, work, pay my dad back – via PayPal  – for the Mother’s Day gift he bought on my behalf – it’s a Vanderbilt EDT Perfume  (funny story I thought Mother’s Day in South Africa was tomorrow turns out it’s only next week I guess I was too excited about paying for my very first store-bought Mother’s Day gift to check the calendar) -and feed myself rice and curry for lunch.

This morning my mother was in one of her moods yelling at my sister to go study and said within earshot of me at least one of my children must succeed (implying once again that I was a failure)  I sat in the bathroom crying for a little while but then realized my mother didn’t see how hard I tried all she saw was that I wasn’t a doctor, engineer, chartered accountant or anything she could brag to her friends about it’s not her fault I still love her she just can’t see what she can’t see. Do you blame blind people for being blind?
