#StandInTheSand

Refugees are humans – that’s what I would like the world to remember.

It’s 2 : 09 PM on day 2837 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray while sitting outside and do some work.

Today is World Refugee Day – a day when the world pauses to remember that 23,300 people a day are forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution. . Today and every day I stand by my statement that Morocco’s 42-year illegal occupation of the Western Sahara is WRONG and CRIMINAL! #FreeWesternSahara . #StandInTheSand with Catherine Constantinides and I as we stand in solidarity with the people of Western Sahara now & always. May we never forget that NOBODY IS A REFUGEE BY CHOICE. Show some compassion. Show your heart.

Day 2471: World Refugee Day and the #WesternSahara

Nobody chooses to be a refugee – that’s what I want the world to know.

It’s 11 : 44 AM on day 2471 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Revelation 3: 17 have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – Anonymous  donated $25 yesterday and Beverly  and Anonymous  donated $50 each today (thanks to them all) which brings the total raised to $410 only $12 090 more to raise in 362 days to help 50 kids with clubfoot (it won’t be easy but we can do this i know it).

Today is World Refugee Day and in honour of that I would like to take a moment to think about the people of the Western Sahara some of whom are currently living in refugee camps on the borders of Algeria because Morocco has been illegally occupying the Western Sahara for the past 41 YEARS which to me is SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE there shouldn’t be a colony in Africa in the 21st century. To the UN: A promise was made that a referendum would be held in 1991 to deal with the issue of the Western Sahara and 26 years later still no referendum I mean really does it take you guys 26 YEARS to organize a referendum show some teeth for crying out loud use your voices to speak for the unheard (I did).

Day 1385: Young Boy Refugee Risking Life on Journey to School

Stop the hate just stop it– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 3  : 14 PM on day 1385 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, read Psalm 71,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature, promote Eradicate AIDS campaign – no donations so so far today but my friend, Stan Faryna,  donated $10 yesterday (thank you so much Stan  ) check out the beautiful post Stan wrote about women called The Wonder That Is Woman –    and have lunch with family and friends.

This morning I came across Young Boy Refugee Risking Life on Journey to School – a video about eight-year-old Dieme who has to cross the border from Uganda to war-torn DRC  every day to get to school – what struck me about this video is Dieme’s wisdom at such a young age he knows that education is his ticket out of poverty.
