Day 1094: Push yourself

Set goals, achieve them and push yourself to see how much further you can go– that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s 12  : 36 PM on day 1094 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray, brush my teeth, read 1 Samuel 28, feed myself a boiled egg and Bran Flakes for breakfast, publish my Disability of the Day feature,    tweet and Facebook about my campaign   – today I was mostly sending thank you messages I will never get over how generous some people are everybody from my 13-year-old brother to my friends in Australia pitched in to help me reach my goal they inspire me to be more generous in my own life I will be forever grateful – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings -my right leg hurt like hell it must be because of the cold (when it’s cold the muscles in my lower limbs get tighter than usual) on the bright side at least I can feel pain in my lower limbs there are a lot of people who can’t – and listen to music – I love The Script their lyrics have such meaning which is rare in this day and age.

As you may know I reached my anti-slavery campaign goal yesterday  (thank you to everyone who donated and helped spread the word) I could close the page down right now and call it a day but I’ve decided to keep the page open until 15 October 2013 let’s see how much more money we can raise for the Not For Sale Campaign in the next 34 days. Are you satisfied with where you are and what you’ve accomplished or are you constantly pushing yourself to see how much further you can go?

My thoughts and prayers are with all those who were (and are) affected by the 9/11 attacks.

Day 987: Pushing yourself to the point of discomfort

“The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.” – M. Scott Peck

It’s  3  : 41 PM on day 987 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles,  feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,  pray, read Deuteronomy 4,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, practice typing with both hands and email, tweet and Facebook about my campaign – no luck today but yesterday someone who wishes to remain anonymous made a $50 donation now I just need to raise $813 more to reach my goal 🙂

Today I spent some time emailing people I knew asking them to take a look at my campaign which made me really uncomfortable but the way I look at it there’s no better reason to put yourself in an uncomfortable situation than to help someone else. Do you push yourself to the point of discomfort in the hopes of achieving greatness?
