Day 1875: 21 Icons season 3 episode 9: Michaela Mycroft

“The struggles and challenges someone overcomes are a lot more telling than the awards and things that they receive.” – Michaela Mycroft

It’s  12 :  10 PM on day 1875 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 20, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing -Gravitas [grav·i·tas] n. Dignity, seriousness, or solemnity in manner. “He has the necessary gravitas to lead the company.”- have breakfast and work on my potential future project.

Yesterday I watched season 3 episode 9 of 21 Icons featuring ability activist Michaela Mycroft –  recipient of the 2011 International Children’s Peace Prize,  founder of the Chaeli Campaign and the first female quadriplegic to summit Mount Kilimanjaro who just happens to have Cerebral Palsy – I could so relate to what she said about her disability making her who she is (I feel that way too) and I so love that she and Gary turned the wheelchair into an object of desire.  Watch season 3 episode 9 of 21 Icons featuring ability activist Michaela Mycroft below:
