Day 1407: There are no Superheroes, Just Us: My Journey with Malala by Shiza Shahid

“Anything I wanted to change I had the power to affect.” – Shiza Shahid, There are no Superheroes, Just Us: My Journey with Malala – Shiza Shahid at TEDxMidAtlantic

It’s 12  : 00 PM on day 1407 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth, feed myself bran flakes for breakfast  pray, read Psalm 94,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and do research for my upcoming campaign – I can’t go into detail about it because this campaign is still in its planning stages but it is my hope that this campaign will change a few lives forever.

Yesterday I watched There are no Superheroes, Just Us: My Journey with Malala – Shiza Shahid at TEDxMidAtlantic – a Ted Talk by Shiza Shahid about the life lessons she learned leading up to the time she quit her job to be the co-founder of the Malala Fund – I love what Shiza said in the talk there are no superheroes, just us it’s so true so often we as people wait around for heroes to change the world failing to realize that we are the heroes we’ve been waiting for.
