  9. Highlights of the Week

  • Finding out my sister has been placed back in our city for her internship starting next year (mother and father are delighted – and me too a little bit but don’t tell my sister wouldn’t want her to get a big head or anything)
  • Hearing my Superhero Catherine Constantinides’ very sweet voicenote – there she was on a plane to Egypt for the World Youth Forum and she thought to call me and when I couldn’t be reached she sent a voicenote she continues to teach me that when people truly love you their actions show it I was so profoundly touched by her determination to connect with me and her kindness (I LOVE my Superhero who never quits – I have many doubts in life but I NEVER doubt that God loves, my family loves me and my Superhero loves me she tells me and shows me often). When I grow up may I be half the person she is and a tenth as kind as she is PLEASE God. #HumanGoals
  • All the little big things I was able to do and bring about
  • Listening to Superhero speak at the World Youth Forum in Egypt – I was watching via livestream (where there’s a will there’s a way and for my family and my Superhero I ALWAYS have the will of a thousand people) Superhero made me and our country SUPERPROUD!
  • Getting through Friday’s physiotherapy session which was unusually painful
  • All the times this week I spend outside in nature

Day 2964: Catherine Constantinides Discusses Western Sahara on Let’s Have It Out #LHIO

lhio 2

Catherine Constantinides to Acting Charge d’ Affaires, Abdelkader Naji of the Moroccan Embassy to South Africa  [regarding Morocco’s 42-year illegal occupation of Western Sahara]: “How can you offer local autonomy to a country you don’t believe exists? ”

It’s 2 : 15 PM on day 2964 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work.

Last night My Superhero Catherine Constantinides guest anchored Let’s Have It Out discussing the Western Sahara Conflict with Acting Charge d’ Affaires, Abdelkader Naji of the Moroccan Embassy to South Africa I was impressed by Catherine’s restraint the Charge d’ Affaires’s only aim was to attack her and her only aim was for the truth to be known God bless her he tried to talk over and attack her meanwhile she was sticking to the facts and trying to make the world aware of Morocco’s 42-year illegal occupation of the Western Sahara – I picked my Superhero really well *impressed with self* .    Please do watch the episode below and share:

Yesterday In memory of the AMAZING Gugu Zulu ( a South African driver race car who died trying to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, as part of a Trek4Mandela expedition to raise funds for sanitary pads for school girls) and inspired by my Superhero Catherine Constantinides (who teaches me that I can be the difference everywhere every day and whose spirit and heart I carry in mine everywhere) my family and i proudly supported Dis-Chem Pharmacies‘s #MillionComforts campaign providing girls with sanitary pads helping them stay in school.

[Note: I’m sharing this with the intention of inspiring people to donate sanitary pads whether you think i’m a saint or a sinner is none of my business because my opinion of myself doesn’t fluctuate with the world’s opinion of me]

Day 2846: From My Superheroes With Love

gifts from CAT

Maybe all the love I have is all the love I need– that’s what I’m realizing.

It’s 11 : 53 AM on day 2846 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and do some work.

Two days ago my Superhero Catherine Constantinides called my dad and asked him if he could pick up a package she would send for me with her sister, Ella, who would be coming to town the following day I was absolutely blown away Catherine had just arrived in South Africa from Geneva that morning and she arranged for gifts to be hand-delivered to me the following day I was MIND-BLOWN that even when she is a far away land during very important things she and our friend from the Western Sahara (currently living in Geneva) Omaima, thought of me I’m in love with Catherine’s kindness even at her most tired she is so so so kind it’s extraordinary and something that I aspire to daily. Maybe just maybe I don’t need matrimony and parenthood to be okay maybe I can thrive on Catherine’s love, on Ella’s love, on Omaima’s love, on the love of my family and friends and that will be enough I’m so blessed to have Superheroes who love me so deeply when Catherine and Ella say they love me I believe them I hear it in their voices and see it in their eyes it comes from somewhere deep within each of them. Thank you Superhero Catherine, Ella and Omaima for bringing light and love into my every day

Day 2807: Catherine Constantinides Spotlights Western Sahara on MetroFM with DJ Fresh #AfricaMonth

“Morocco is the last colonizer on the continent.” – Catherine Constantinides

It’s 12 : 42  PM on day 2807 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, spend time outside, have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised $14 469 only $4 281 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

As you may or may not know May is Africa Month and in honour of that I would like to share the work that Human Rights Activist Catherine Constantinides is doing to help the Saharawi People, the people of the Western Sahara (the last colony in Africa) gain their right to self-determination. Listen to Catherine Constantinides’s  2018 interview with DJ Fresh about the Western Sahara below:

Day 2784: Africa Month and the 42-Year Illegal Occupation of the Western Sahara

am

“I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself.” – Nelson Mandela

It’s 12 : 44 PM on day 2784 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Exodus 23:25,  have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –  raised  $14 409 only $4 341 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

The month of May is Africa Month and while I’m proud to be African and we have much to celebrate I would like to call attention once again to the illegal occupation of the Western Sahara by Morocco (can you imagine fleeing from war to what you thought would be a temporary refugee camp only to still be there 42 YEARS LATER?) the United Nations recognizes the Western Sahara as a country separate from Morocco but the referendum the UN promised in 1991 is yet to take place and why because Morocco has powerful allies at the UN. To the UN: I know for a fact that it does not take 27 YEARS to organize a referendum please I BEG of you put your selfish interests aside and think of the Saharawi children who are growing up in the blistering heat on the borders of Algeria with less than the basics.

Day 2603: Lessons in Kindness Taught To Me by My Superhero Catherine Constantinides

It doesn’t cost much at all to be kind– that’s what my Superhero Catherine Constantinides continues to teach me.

It’s 12:  36 PM on day 2603 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read 1 Peter 3:14 and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 388 only $8 112 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far).

Yesterday my Superhero Catherine Constantinides called me from the airport on her way to the USA to speak at the Obama Foundation‘s Obama Summit just to say I carry you in my heart whatever I go I was just blown away and so touched I’m usually not the mushy sort but anyone would have to be made of stone not to be moved by that (it’s not just what she said and did that touched me so deeply but the context in which it was done I mean there she was ready to board a plane to go and be amongst the best minds and hearts in the world and she chose to call me to say I carry you in my heart whatever I go…simply extraordinary actually). Thank you Superhero for showing me what kindness looks like and sounds like and for teaching me that it is always necessary to be kinder than necessary (I love you more than Peanut Butter and French Toast).
