Let us not forget the last colony in Africa… the people of Western Sahara still illegally occupied by another African country: Morocco.” – Catherine Constantinides

Today is Africa Day and while I’m proud to be African and we have much to celebrate I would like to call attention once again to the illegal occupation of the Western Sahara by Morocco (can you imagine fleeing from war to what you thought would be a temporary refugee camp only to still be there 45 YEARS LATER?) the United Nations recognizes the Western Sahara as a country separate from Morocco but the referendum the UN promised in 1991 is yet to take place and why because Morocco has powerful allies at the UN. Let us all use all the platforms we have to raise awareness about Western Sahara today and every day

“Today is the first day of AFRICA Month. And so as the month unfolds I will use my platforms to continue sharing not only my journey with My Saharawi People but the truths surrounding a conflict of occupation and colonization that spans 45 years. An illegal invasion of their country by Morocco. We continue to tell a truth because justice must and will prevail!” – Catherine Constantinides

The month of May is Africa Month and while I’m proud to be African and we have much to celebrate I would like to call attention once again to the illegal occupation of the Western Sahara by Morocco (can you imagine fleeing from war to what you thought would be a temporary refugee camp only to still be there 45 YEARS LATER?) the United Nations recognizes the Western Sahara as a country separate from Morocco but the referendum the UN promised in 1991 is yet to take place and why because Morocco has powerful allies at the UN.

“Morocco is the last colonizer on the continent.” – Catherine Constantinides

It’s 12 : 42  PM on day 2807 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, spend time outside, have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised $14 469 only $4 281 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

As you may or may not know May is Africa Month and in honour of that I would like to share the work that Human Rights Activist Catherine Constantinides is doing to help the Saharawi People, the people of the Western Sahara (the last colony in Africa) gain their right to self-determination. Listen to Catherine Constantinides’s  2018 interview with DJ Fresh about the Western Sahara below:

To the UN: I know for a fact that it does not take 27 YEARS to organize a referendum please I BEG of you put your selfish interests aside and think of the Saharawi children who are growing up in the blistering heat on the borders of Algeria with less than the basics.

Day 2436: Africa Month

You always learn a lot more when you lose than when you win. ~ African proverb

It’s 12 : 51  PM on day 2436 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,   have breakfast, read Joel 2:28-29  and learn a new word – Definitions for forgettery
a faculty or facility for forgetting; faulty memory: a witness with a very convenient forgettery.

As you may or may not know May is Africa Month and living in Africa it’s an opportunity for me to show the world things about Africa that they seldom get to see this continent is so much more than poverty and disease it’s hope, it’s love, it’s compassion , it’s generosity, it’s joy, it’s diversity, it’s untapped potential … Africa is me I am Africa.
