Day 559

What happens on your birthday is a reflection of what has happened your whole life – that’s what I learned today 🙁

It’s 7: 30 PM on day 559 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to prepare and  publish my Disability of the Day feature, prepare and publish my Kid of the Week feature,   feed myself a  uzhunnu vada–a savory Indian doughnut – and chutney  for breakfast,   brush my teeth,   tweet about my 21 For 21 Campaign – no luck  –    feed myself rice and curry for lunch,  watch This Means War – a raunchy romantic comedy starring  Reese WitherspoonChris Pine and Tom Hardy it was basically about two CIA agents who fall for the same girl I really liked it was really funny and the ending was refreshing nobody ended up being the loser 🙂 – at the Hemingways Mall and feed myself a McDonald’s vegetable burger for dinner – I have switched from being vegan to being  a vagetarian for  lent (being vegan is just to extreme for me when you’re vegan you basically give up everything you eat meat, eggs yogurt, cheese ect) – continue to tweet about my campaign – Justina (@justinav) made a donation (thanks Justina I really appreciate it)  (21 x 9 = 189 x 4 = 756 cups of food for the hungry = a very happy twenty-one-year-old) (Note: I extended my campaign to midnight to give more people a chance to donate I will donate all the money raised to the  United Nations World Food Programme  first thing tomorrow morning).

As you know today is my 21st  birthday and you would think my whole family is with me right now  but you know where my father, sister and brother are right now…. they are at the gym – my dad just bought a cake said Happy Birthday and left with my sister and brother   – I suppose I shouldn’t have expected anything different it’s pretty much always just been my mom and I although my sister and I are going to the movies this afternoon that’s something I guess, what really makes me sad is that people on Twitter seem to care more about my birthday than my family does (see some of the tweets sent to me below). Do you see the truth of your life every year on your birthday?

Day 521

A little reflection goes a long way – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 7 : 48  PM on day 521 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, prepare and publish my Disability of the Day feature, pray, read Genesis 32 as part of my ongoing quest to learn more about the Bible,  work – in between work I wrote an article about myself which might be published in one of South Africa’s magazines I will share with you guys what I wrote if it gets published – drink tea by myself, feed myself a boiled egg for brunch, work some more,   feed myself grilled mutton, potato salad and baked beans for dinner  and watch TV.

Yesterday I was laying in bed thinking about turning 21 and what it means for most people it’s a symbol of freedom and a time in one’s life where people almost expect you to do crazy things but I want turning 21 to be about me becoming more generous, kind and compassionate. Do you reflect on the important milestones of your life?

Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://twitter.com/Nisha360

If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://bit.ly/hC7vOu

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!
