“Everyone wants to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”― Oprah Winfrey
It’s 12 : 06 PM on day 1554 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, go back to sleep, pray, read Isaiah 39, publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Educate Generations campaign– on $1 190 – feed myself Chapati – an Indian flat-bread – with egg curry and a banana for breakfast and continue promoting the Educate Generations campaign – still on $ 1 190 I am grateful (she repeats to herself).
This morning I realized that the people who really love you are not the ones who are there for you when you’re rich and famous but the ones who are there for you when you’re poor and unknown.
That’s some realization, Nisha!
How did this realization happen?
Yesterday Miss SA was crowned Miss World and overnight everybody loves her that’s how I came to the realization.
People will love a winner and success for they long for it in one way or another. And beauty, like goodness and truth, is easy to love, admire and desire.
If you serve the people, they will love you so long as you continue to serve them. If you have what they desire, many will love you only so long as you have what they do not or you have something by which they might benefit. Such is the world.
Serve others, however, in a manner that speaks to their dignity and encourages them in righteousness, truth and hope. Your destiny shall be worked out, thereby. But do not despair for the lack of love of others when you do good service because all of the things they love and their appetites are not righteous or godly.
Everything you said is so true 🙂
