There are so many life lessons to be learned from the Bible – that’s what I keep realizing.
It’s 1 : 10 PM on day 1478 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Proverbs 15, publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself All Bran Flakes with banana for breakfast, work on my upcoming campaign – I am trying to think of crowd-funding ideas that will not do any lasting damage to my health so far I’ve got starve myself (kids don’t try that), go without water (don’t try that either) or go bald if you guys have any other ideas please share them in the comments section below because I’m honestly stumped.
As you may know I read the Bible every day it has taught me so many life lessons some of which I took the liberty of writing down. Take a look:
7 Life Lessons I Learned from the Bible
- Take the high road – “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” (Romans 12: 14) (Note: I haven’t gotten to Romans in the Bible yet but I’ve read this particular verse a few times and repeated it to myself many more times)
- Embrace correction – “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid.” (Proverbs 12:1) - Work hard – “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” (Proverbs 14:23)
- Create wealth the right way – “Dishonest money dwindles away,
but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.” (Proverbs 13:11) - Surround yourself with good people – “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20)
- Think before you speak – “Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.” (Proverbs 13:3) - In the end all of us will get what we deserve – “The Lord works out everything to its proper end—even the wicked for a day of disaster.” (Proverbs 16:4)
I fear you are in a dark place. Fasting and self-denial can strengthen us in our spiritual life, but the way you propose them as methodology for your campaigning is problematic. It’s like you are trying to guilt people into making a donation. Don’t go there, my friend.
Instead, offer both praise and prayer to those from who you seek donations. Praise, thank and bless each donor on Twitter or Facebook with links to their websites or social accounts.
For example:
Thank you for your donation to [name of cause], Yomar Lopez. God bless you! Please join me in celebrating Yomar’s generosity by sending him encouragement at http://www.twitter.com/yogizilla
AND, then, pray for each donor, every morning and night for thirty days. Pray for God to bless them, heal them, and give them joy. Put your prayer and blessing on your blog post, everyday, and a list of the donors.
That’s a good idea but what if not all donors believe in a higher power? i think I’ll thank them and email them something instead. Would that work?
