“I haven’t let what happened to me define me. I’ve let it help me in my future. It’s taken me on a different path, but I haven’t let it destroy me. I’ve let it empower me.” – Jes Foord
It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 1826 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, read Luke 16, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing – Frogs don’t need to drink water as they absorb it through their skin. – and promote my Educate Generations campaign – my cousin, Vinita, donated $100 yesterday (thanks SO MUCH for the support chechi and chachen appreciate it (from Rumpelstiltskin to money I just get more demanding with age LOL [when I was little I was obsessed with Rumpelstiltskin I used to ask her to tell me the story over and over and over again]) and I also have to thank my friend Bruce Sallan who wrote #Charity Comes to #DadChat Thursday – #MalalaFund as a prelude to his Twitter Chat about the campaign taking place on Thursday (thanks Bruce appreciate your support as always 🙂 ).
Yesterday I watched season 3 episode 2 of 21 Icons featuring the strong and courageous Jes Foord in 2008 Jes was unfortunately raped by five so-called men but being the strong and courageous woman that she is Jes chose to use this horrific experience that happened to her to help others through the Jes Foord Foundation Jes has reminded me that we define our experiences our experiences don’t define us. Jes if you’re reading this please know that I am forever changed by you and your story now whenever I feel weak or afraid I will think of you and try to channel your strength and courage.
