Day 1811: My fight to the death

I’ll always have to fight to be seen as a human being with something to contribute – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s  1 :  00  PM on day 1811 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Luke 1, publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature,   have breakfast,  learn one new thing –The longest mountain range in the world is under water. Called the Mid-Oceanic Ridge, this chain of mountains runs through the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and into the Indian and Pacific oceans. It runs more than 35,000 miles long, has peaks higher than those in the Alps and it comprises 23 percent of the Earth’s total surface. – and promote my Educate Generations campaign –  $4 656 raised so far (thanks so much for the support everyone :) ).

Yesterday something happened that made me realize I’ll always have to fight to be seen as a human being with something to contribute before yesterday when someone said something unintentionally hurtful or ignorant I assumed that only individual mindsets needed to be changed but something about what happened yesterday left me slightly crushed and made me understand  that for perceptions of differently-abled people to change I had to play a part in changing the societal mindset… it’s going to be a hell of a fight but it’s a fight that I dedicate my whole life to winning.
