Day 1665: Beyond the Blackboard

“But we can’t impose our own goals, wishes, or help on anyone. We can only teach, support, and love. We give them more opportunities, more choices. Then we love them regardless of the choices they make, hoping that they will learn to make better ones in the future.” ― Stacey BessNobody Don’t Love Nobody: Lessons on Love from the School With No Name

It’s 11 : 12  AM on day 1665 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,    read Ezekiel 25 and 1 Corinthians 15 , publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature, feed myself Appam and egg curry for breakfast and learn one new thing – Chameleons can see in both visible and ultraviolet light. Chameleons exposed to ultraviolet light show increased social behavior and activity levels and are more inclined to bask and feed. They are also more likely to reproduce as it has a positive effect on the pineal gland.

Recently I watched Beyond the Blackboard – a movie starring Emily VanCamp based on the true-life story of Stacey Bess who found herself teaching homeless children in a school with no name – this movie  is testament to the fact that one well-intended person can make a world of difference I really enjoyed it.
