Day 1269: What I learned from Oscar Pistorius

Be your own hero that way you won’t feel let down if your heroes fall from grace – that’s what Oscar Pistorius has taught me.

It’s 1  : 00 PM on day 1269 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth,  pray, read Job 3, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself All Bran Flakes  for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – 10 days  no donations I vowed not to curse during Lent so I won’t (God help me keep my vow this is going to be harder than I thought it would be) – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

As you may or may not know the Oscar Pistorius murder trial began two days ago I don’t know if he intended to kill Reeva Steenkamp or not but what Oscar Pistorius has taught me is that you have to be your own hero that way you won’t feel let down if your heroes fall from grace.    Have you stopped putting people on a pedestal and started doing things worth emulating?
