“I might not be able to choose what is easy for me or what is difficult. But I can choose how to use the abilities that I do have.” –Rachel KolbNavigating deafness in a hearing world: Rachel Kolb at TEDxStanford

It’s 12  : 03 PM on day 1241 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read Ezra 8, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast, publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today but Alex Forshaw donated £10 and Renee donated $20  yesterday (thank you SO MUCH Alex and Renee your contributions and support mean the world to me) which brings my total raised to $290.21 I’m 29% to my goal I am SO HAPPY and GRATEFUL 🙂  – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings, spend time outside -today’s such a beautiful day here blue skies and sunshine so grateful to be alive to see this beautiful day – and promote my campaign some more – still on 29%.

Last night I watched Navigating deafness in a hearing world: Rachel Kolb at TEDxStanford I could relate to Rachel’s story because I, like her, chose not to let the one thing I can’t do be the focal point of my life sure it’s frustrating that I don’t have as much freedom of movement as I’d like to have but I’ve learned to work around it either by doing things a little differently or by asking for help.
