Day 1210: How being differently-abled is like being a celebrity

You’re never as alone as you think you are there are thousands maybe millions of people going through the same things you’re going through – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12  : 39 PM on day 1210 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth,  pray, read 2 Chronicles 13,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature,    feed myself boiled boiled egg and All Bran Flakes for breakfast, email the Elton John AIDS Foundation – before I decide if I want to raise money for a particular organization I email them a bunch of questions if they answer those questions to my satisfaction then I move forward with my plans (people trust me with their money so I have to make sure that the money I raise gets to the people who really need it) – and hang out my family.

A few days ago I read “Why having a disability is like being an unintentional celebrity” I could so relate to this blog post there’s a certain responsibility that comes with all the attention you get when you’re differently-abled I can’t tell the people who come up to me at the mall to buzz off because I represent myself, my family and the differently-abled population.   Have you read or watched things that have made you realize you’re not alone in what you’re going through?
