Sometimes people can be a bigger obstacle than my physical challenges – that’s what I learned today.

It’s 1 : 49 PM on day 914 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles,  take off my dirty t-shirt and put a clean t-shirt on,  read Exodus 34, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  practice typing with both hands, feed myself an avocado sandwich for breakfast and listen to music.

Today I realized sometimes people can be a bigger obstacle than my physical challenges people do things for me because it’s faster for them to do something for me than it is for me to do something for myself but what they don’t realize is that by doing everything for me they are robbing me of the opportunity to learn how to do things for myself I often ask the people who are so eager to “help” me what’s going to happen to me if you kick the bucket before me to which they say something like we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it truth is we won’t cross that bridge when we get to it I will be left to cross that bridge by myself while they’re having a great time in Heaven to prevent that from happening in the future I’m going to work my way around the “helpful” people in my life and learn how to be as independent as I possibly can. Have people been a bigger challenge than all your other challenges put together?
