Day 913

It is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked, through understanding.
― Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

It’s 3 : 19 PM on day 913 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to take off my dirty t-shirt and put a clean t-shirt on, stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, brush my teeth, pray, read Exodus 33, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  practice typing with both hands,,  feed myself an avocado sandwich for breakfast, listen to music, spend some time outside – the weather outside is gorgeous I thought it would be a shame to waste it sitting inside – and watch TV.

A few days ago I read Kevin and Christine Williams Give Away £22,500 Raised For Sick Daughter To Little Boy With Cerebral Palsy – an article about Kevin and Christine Williams who gave away the money they raised for their daughter’s treatment to a boy with Cerebral Palsy after they found out further treatment wasn’t an option for their daughter – the fact that Kevin and Christine Williams could say in the midst of everything they were going through maybe we can’t help our daughter but we can help someone else’s son learn how to walk blows me away and inspires me to stretch myself when I give I will never forget the generosity of Kevin and Christine Williams. If you had something that someone else needed would you give it without them having to ask?
