Day 1879: “How We Can Make the World a Better Place by 2030”

A higher GDP doesn’t necessarily equate to more social progress – that’s what Michael Green taught me.

It’s  12 :  25 PM on day 1789 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 24, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing – The watermelon can be classed as both a fruit and a vegetable.– have breakfast, make sandwiches for the kids in our sisi’s (housekeeper’s) neighborhood with sisi’s  help as part of  Virginia’s Sandwich Run (thank you sisi for all your help today) and work on my potential future project.

Yesterday I watched “How We Can Make the World a Better Place by 2030” – a Ted Talk by Michael Green about how we can reach the U.N’s Global Goals by 2030 – which made me realize that a higher GDP doesn’t necessarily equate to more social progress if a country doesn’t have its priorities straight regardless of its GDP it won’t make much social progress. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who supports me in everything I do I sincerely appreciate it.

Day 1877: Human Beings and the Power to Choose

Human beings are the most powerful living things on the planet in that we have the power to choose how we feel about what happens to us – that’s what I realized today.

It’s  12 :  38 PM on day 1877 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 22, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –Taciturn [tac·i·turn] adj. Reserved or uncommunicative in speech; saying little. “Today the normally taciturn man would not stop talking.”- have breakfast and work on my potential future project.

Today I realized that human beings are the most powerful living things on the planet in that we have the power to choose how we feel about what happens to us I hope that one day everybody comes to this realization and embraces their power of choice.

Day 1876: India, Fear and Ignorance

“To me, Fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, Fearless is having fears. Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, Fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death.” ― Taylor Swift

It’s  12 :  43 PM on day 1876 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 21, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing -Definitions for desultory 1) digressing from or unconnected with the main subject; random: a desultory remark. 2) lacking in consistency, constancy, or visible order, disconnected; fitful: desultory conversation.- have breakfast and work on my potential future project.

As you may or may not know my family and I are going on vacation to India in less than a month I am both excited for and apprehensive about our trip excited because I haven’t seen my family over there in like three years and apprehensive because the last time I was there every time I went out in public I was made to feel like a circus-freak my parents will probably try to keep me inside in an effort to protect me but they will fail miserably because come what may I fully intend on being out there in public in people’s faces I refuse to hide in my house like I’ve committed some sort of crime I’ve earned the right to roll through this life with my head held high.

(Note: My intention in writing this post is not to give India or my fellow Indians a bad name I’m just writing from my past experience).

Day 1875: 21 Icons season 3 episode 9: Michaela Mycroft

“The struggles and challenges someone overcomes are a lot more telling than the awards and things that they receive.” – Michaela Mycroft

Day 1874: Don’t forget the Saharawi people

Be grateful for all that you have some people are not so fortunate – that’s my message to the world.

It’s  12 :  14  PM on day 1874 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 19, publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature, learn one new thing –Slavish [slav·ish] adj. Showing no originality; blindly imitative: “A slavish copy of the original work.” –  have breakfast and hang out with my family.

This morning I was thinking about the Western Sahara and the Saharawi people – the Western Sahara has been illegally occupied by Morocco for the past FORTY YEARS which forced the Saharawi people to seek refuge in south-west Algeria – I cannot imagine what it’s like for the Saharawi people they have lived in those tents for forty years basically cut off from the rest of the world with just enough food to survive and hope that they will one day return to their home it’s just not fair that some people have to live in such unliveable conditions while the rest of us sleep on comfy beds and have more than enough of everything to survive and thrive. To the U.N and the African  Union: PLEASE put more pressure on Morocco to leave the Western Sahara. To the rest of us: Let’s raise some hell on behalf of the Saharawi people they have suffered for forty years too long. Special thanks to my hero without a cape Catherine Constantinides who takes every opportunity to tell the world about the Saharawi people after having spent ten days with them in the refugee camp (dude you rock I love you to the moon and back).

To raise awareness about the plight of the Saharawi people please share Gareth Cliff’s interview with Catherine Constantinides far and wide

Day 1873: The fact of life I’m finding hard to deal with

Everybody is responsible for their own lives – that’s a fact of life I’m finding hard to deal with.

It’s  12 :  23  PM on day 1873 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 18, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –Lugubrious [lu·gu·bri·ous] adj. Looking or sounding sad and dismal; mournful. “The lugubrious country song reminded her of an ex-boyfriend.”- have breakfast and work on my potential future project.

Today I was reminded that everybody is responsible for their own lives where they end up will be a direct consequence of their action or inaction (Note to self: Live your life and let other people live theirs if something happens to them as a consequence of their action or inaction it won’t be on your head I swear).

Day 1872: What “living life to the fullest” means to me

Find out what living life to the fullest means to you and do that every day– that’s my message to the world.

This morning I realized that to me living life to the fullest means devoting my time to things that make a difference and now that I know that on a conscious level I’m going to do it more often.

Day 1871: Success and Preparation

Your success is directly proportional to how much you prepare and how hard you work – that’s what I want the world to know.

It’s  12 :  14  PM on day 1871 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 16, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –Cultivation of pears started 1134 years BC in China.- have breakfast and work on my potential future project.

Today I was thinking about success and preparation all the successful people in the world worked their butts off way before anybody noticed them which is something I wish some people in my generation would understand there is no such thing as instant success it’s years of preparation, hard work and perseverance.

Day 1870: Just be nice

How you treat people is the measure of your humanity – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s  12 :  18  PM on day 1870 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Acts 15, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –Definitions for fugleman 1). a person who heads a group, company, political party, etc.; a leader or manager. 2). Recently I was at a store with my mom and there was this guy ahead of us in the line apparently he was very dissatisfied with the customer service he was rude and even threatened to have the store closed down I felt so bad for the staff member at the store who bore the brunt of his wrath so even though I didn’t know the guy as soon as he left I apologized on his behalf and asked her to forgive him I wish people would understand that we never touch so lightly that we don’t leave a trace and act accordingly. Please be extra nice to everyone you meet today life is really hard.
