Tag Archives: Woman’s Day South Africa: How far we’ve come and how far we still have to go

Day 696

We need to pick up from where the previous generation left of– that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s 6 : 36 PM on day 696 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself scrambled eggs and bread  for breakfast, drink  juice by myself,  prepare and publish my Disability of the Day feature, work, continue reading See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson, feed myself chicken for lunch, read some more and watch TV.

Today is Women’s Day here in South  Africa and although I’m proud of how far we have come as women in this country I believe we still have a long way to go we need to make sure that girls have just as many opportunities as boys do, we need to teach young girls that they have the right and responsibility to say no to anything that could jeopardize their future,  we need to demand tougher sentences for rapists… in short we need to step up and lead  like the women of 1956 did. Are you picking up from where the previous generation left of?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.
