Day 2167: Compassion, Wheelchairs and Other Stuff

Practice compassion for yourself and others – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 10 : 33  AM on day 2167 of my journey towards independence and I managed to   pray, have breakfast, read Revelation 3:21,   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –   raised $7 225 only $5 275 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ) .

Today I was thinking about motorised wheelchairs I wasn’t keen on getting one when I was younger because I thought it would be a failure on my part to use one when one of my hands was perfectly functional but now I realize it would be hard to push myself on a manual wheelchair with only one hand so I’m going to swallow my pride and get a motorised wheelchair in a few years (it will be easier for my family as well – they won’t have to push me around all the time).

Day 1841: KD Smart Chair

Technology at its best transforms people’s lives – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 :  30 PM on day 1841  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read John 7,    publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –They’re a climacteric fruit.Yes, avocado is a fruit and is climacteric, meaning it matures on the tree but ripens off of the tree.–  and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – yesterday Anonymous donated $15 and today S.S donated $100 (thanks so much Anonymous and S.S really appreciate the support from both of you 🙂 )  which brings the total raised to $5 147 with 4 days still to go [thanks so much everyone for your support I’m sincerely humbled and deeply touched].

Yesterday I was researching portable electric wheelchairs and I came across the KD Smart Chair I just think it’s THE COOLEST THING EVER MADE. Take a look:

Day 971: Be grateful even for the things you wish you didn’t have to have

Be grateful even for the things you wish you didn’t have to have because some people don’t have those things –that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s  2  : 51 PM on day 971 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself bread and a boiled egg for breakfast,  pray, read Numbers 24, publish my Disability of the Day feature,   practice typing with both hands and  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles.

Yesterday while my mom and I were at physiotherapy my dad went to order me a new wheelchair apparently a run-of-the-mill wheelchair costs anywhere between R4 000 and R8 000 when I heard that I couldn’t help but think of all the people who don’t have extra money laying around to buy wheelchairs for their kids sure it sucks that I have to use a wheelchair to get around but at least I have a wheelchair I should ask the people we’re buying a new wheelchair from whether they can fix this wheelchair and give it to someone in need.   Are you grateful even for the things you wish you didn’t have to have because you know that some people don’t have those things?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.
