Believe you can’t and you won’t, believe you can and you will – that’s what I keep learning 🙂
It’s 4 : 08 PM on day 624 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a boiled egg for breakfast, drink Green Tea by myself, publish my Disability of the Day feature, exercise my right hand – I cut bread and polony into smaller pieces using a knife with my right hand today I had the hardest time picking up the knife with my right hand but just as I was about to give up I did it pretty soon I will have mastered using a fork and knife I am SO PROUD of me – and feed myself raw tomato and fried carrots for lunch.
A couple of days ago I stumbled across Stephen Wampler’s story – in 2010 Stephen (a man with severe Cerebral Palsy climbed El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, a formation that is twice the height of the Empire State Building, with the complete use of just one arm) – I was INSPIRED peeling a banana is hard for me but seeing Stephen pulling himself up to get to the top of El Capitan I realized I was right in thinking you can’t fail unless you quit. Watch Stephen climbing El Capitan below:
