Day 2067: Getting Comfortable with Silence

When you can sit in silence with yourself that’s when you know you have an okay relationship with yourself – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 12 : 12  PM on day 2067 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, learn one new thing – What is the instrument used to measure sunshine?
Measurement is performed by instruments called sunshine recorders. For the specific purpose of sunshine duration recording, Campbell–Stokes recorders are used, which use a spherical glass lens to focus the sun rays on a specially designed tape. – and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign   – raised $5 724 only $526 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂).

Today laying on my bed staring at the ceiling I realized when you can sit in silence with yourself that’s when you know you have an okay relationship with yourself when I was younger silence used to make me acutely uncomfortable but now I can stare endlessly at the ceiling doing nothing and everything at the same time.

Day 1812: Embracing Awkward

“The person we’re most afraid of being caught alone with is ourselves.” –  Paul Angone, The Death of Awkward (and why it is killing us)

It’s 12 : 46 PM on day 1812  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, read Luke 2,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,  learn one new thing –Broccoli originated in Italy off of the Mediterranean. It has been eaten there since the time of the ancient Romans in the 6th Century BC–     have breakfast and promote my Educate Generations campaign –  $4 656 raised so far  (so grateful )  only $47 more needed to reach my August goal (don’t ask me how I know but I know God is helping me even though I can’t see it 🙂 ) .

A few weeks ago I read The Death of Awkward (and why it is killing us) by Paul Angone I found what was said in the article to be so true most people today avoid awkwardness at all cost often using technology to do so which is sad because in the silence is where we are able to hear the unvarnished truth about our lives I wake up early in the morning (I’m beginning to think I have insomnia) and lie in bed just staring at the wall it is in those moments that I hear the truth about my life the truth is not always nice to hear but it needs to be heard nonetheless.

Day 1160: Keep quiet

When you encounter a person who you know is always looking for a fight it’s best to keep quiet– that’s what I learned today.

It’s 12  : 09 PM on day 1160 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read 2 Kings 18,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, edit My Book Shelf and add new books and  feed myself  boiled egg and All Bran Flakes for breakfast.

This morning I learned that when you encounter a person who you know is always looking for a fight it’s best to keep quiet I often tell people what I think and offer suggestions with the best of intentions unfortunately there are some people in the world who will pick a fight with you no matter what you say so from today onwards when I’m around such people I’ll keep quiet.  Do you find yourself engaging with people who are always looking for a fight?

Day 1050: Saying a lot with silence

Sometimes your silence can say more than your words ever could – that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s 11  : 41 AM on day 1050 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, try to clean myself in the bathroom,  pray,   read Judges 9, feed myself  All Bran Flakes for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,   tweet and Facebook about my campaign – still working hard to  raise the $250 more I need to reach my goal and some people say all I do is eat and go to the bathroom. Ha! – and  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles.

This morning someone said something really hurtful to me and I just sat there silently listening when you know the truth about yourself you don’t feel the need to react to what people say about you. Have there been times in your life when you’ve said a lot without saying anything at all?
