Day 1261: Holding yourself to a higher standard

People won’t necessarily treat you the way you deserve to be treated and that’s okay but you have to hold yourself to a higher standard – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12  : 00 PM on day 1261 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray,  brush my teeth, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,   read Esther 5,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles,  stretch my hamstrings and  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – 5 days and still no donations but two people did say they would donate this week  I guess I just have to be patient.

Yesterday I got into a heated exchange with someone and both of us said things we regretted looking back on it I am not proud of the person I turned into during that exchange so I have decided to hold myself to a higher standard and treat people better than they sometimes treat me people can call me names and say I do nothing all they like but I refuse to engage with them on that level it’s beneath me. Have you decided to hold yourself to a higher standard and treat people better than they sometimes treat you?

Day 1222: Do you try to treat everybody well regardless of how they treat you?

You don’t have to treat people the way they treat you when people treat you with hate you can respond with love– that’s what I realized two days ago.

It’s 12  : 43 PM on day 1222 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth,  read 2 Chronicles 25, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today but that’s okay I’ll keep trying I’m going to physiotherapy later today I’ll ask the people there to take a look at my fundraising page if I get a chance – stretch my hamstrings and listen to music – I LOVE Hall of Fame by The Script it’s my life’s theme song it never fails to motivate me.

Two days ago I read These 14 Unexpected Responses To Hatred Show That Humans Do Sometimes Get It Right – an article that tells stories of people who responded with love when they were treated with hate – reading this article has made me a better person it has made me realize you don’t have to treat people the way they treat you when people treat you with hate you can respond with love. Do you try to treat everybody well regardless of how they treat you?

Day 1044: Choosing to be better not bitter

What happens to you can either make you bitter or better– that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s 12  : 19 PM on day 1044 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth, pray, read Judges 3,  feed myself  All Bran Flakes for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles,   take off my dirty jacket and t-shirt and put a clean t-shirt on,   tweet and Facebook about my campaign -no luck –    stretch my hamstrings, spend some time outside – sitting outside surrounded by nature I was grateful to be alive sure living with Cerebral Palsy is not the easiest thing in the world but at least I’m alive to make a difference in the world and enjoy beautiful blue sky days I know a lot of people would trade places with me even with my medical issues – and promote my campaign some more – still no luck I’m not going to give up I’m doing this to help people who have had their free will taken away from them.

Yesterday something happened to me (I won’t mention what because I don’t want to use this blog as a weapon to hurt people) that changed the way I saw people forever I will always remember what was done to me and try not to do the same to someone else the things that happen to you can either make you bitter or better and I choose to be better.   Are you bitter or better because of the things that have happened to you?

Day 1008: Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curseRomans 12: 14

It’s 2  :  13 PM on day 1008 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray,  brush my teeth,  feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,   read Deuteronomy 25, publish my Disability of the Day feature, tweet and Facebook about my campaign –  no luck –  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles   and practice typing with both hands.

This morning someone was spewing all sorts of venom at me and this Bible verse came to mind bless those who curse you bless and do not curse whatever someone says or does to you, you can choose to rise above it knowing that whatever you do or say reflects on you. Do you have it in you to bless and not curse those who curse you?
