Keep trying even if you don’t reach your goals when you thought you would– that’s what I learned today.
It’s 3: 12 PM on day 588 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, publish my Disability of the Day feature, exercise my right hand, drink tea by myself, exercise my hand some more – the next time you pick up a coffee mug with your right hand and put it down with ease please think of me and be grateful for everything you can do I practiced doing that for about three hours and still didn’t get it completely right -feed myself a chicken nugget sandwich for brunch and watch TV.
Today is 23 April 2012 the day I was supposed to tick off eat with a fork and knife and brush my teeth on my Timeline to complete all the things I need to do to become physically independent [revised] unfortunately it’s taking a little longer for me to learn how to do these things but that’s okay I’ll just keep trying and trying and trying until I do because I truly believe in the life I want – a life in which I can go anywhere and do anything with little to no help from anyone else. Have you given up on your goals just because you didn’t achieve them when you thought you would?
