Day 1495: My thoughts on Oscar Pistorius’s mitigation of sentence strategy

If you’re going to play up the fact that you’re differently-abled do it in good times and in bad don’t just do it when it suites you – that’s my message to differently-abled people everywhere.

It’s 12 : 26  PM on day 1495 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Ecclesiastes 2, publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings,   feed myself peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast promote my Educate Generations campaign – no donations so far today but my friend, Catherine Cook, made a donation of $25 yesterday (thanks Catherine you’re the best! 🙂 ) which brings my total raised to $385 only $2115 more to raise 🙂

This morning I read Oscar Trial: Last chance for Defence, State to sway Masipa and I was fuming Oscar’s defence team is arguing that Oscar should be sentenced to house arrest and community service because South African prisons can’t accommodate “disabled” people what infatuates me is not that he’s trying to get off with a slap on the wrist it’s the way he’s going about doing it he wasn’t playing up the differently-abled card when he was signing endorsement deals and living the high life but now that things are going badly for him he couldn’t be more “disabled”.
