Day 903

Every “disabled” person wants you to look behind their “disability” and see the human being  – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 4 : 53 PM on day 903 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, stretch my hamstrings, take off my dirty t-shirt and put a clean t-shirt on, brush my teeth,  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast,  read Exodus 23,    publish my Disability of the Day feature and practice typing with both hands.

Today I was watching videos about people who have different genetic disorders as part of research for my Disability of the Day feature and I realized every “disabled” person wants you to look behind their “disability” and see the human being I could relate I love to read, write, help people, listen to music and hang out outside but some people don’t see that all some people see is my wheelchair which makes me sad more for them than for me because they’re missing out.  When you meet a “disabled” person do you look behind their “disability” and see the human being?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.
