Get Me To 21 by Gabi Lowe [Book review]

Yesterday I finished reading Get Me To 21: The Jenna Lowe story by Gabi Lowe it’s a story of a family’s determination to keep Jenna alive and Jenna’s determination to live fully in the face of death…the book is not about death or Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) means that you have high blood pressure in the arteries that go from your heart to your lungs [PAH is the disease that Jenna had]) .it’s about life and love…it’s breathtakingly raw and moving (at times I felt like an intruder like I had no place bearing witness to a mother’s pain but I finished the book Gabi Lowe taught me that one of our life’s purposes is to bear witness to each other’s story even when it’s excruciating. Get Me To 21 is a must-read for everyone.

It’s 12 : 38 PM on day 2094 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Philippians 4:13, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Swans can also fly. A baby swan is called a Cygnet. The name of the constellation Cygnus is from the Latin word for swan.- and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign – raised $5 875 only $375 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Today marks the one year anniversary of Jenna Lowe’s death (Jenna had a rare degenerative disease called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension after a potentially life-saving double lung transplant she spent many months in the hospital before she passed away on this day last year) although I never met Jenna in person we did tweet each other she taught me that we live on in the lives we touch (Jenna’s life continues to touch the lives of others through the Jenna Lowe Trust). Rest in peace Jenna I will never forget you every sunny afternoon I go outside, look up at the sky and think of you I live for two now – I live for me and I live for you.

It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 1731 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Jonah 3, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –Looking like a cross between a guinea pig and a hippopotamus, the capybara can weigh a whopping 100 pounds (45 kilograms). Native to Central and South America, the rodents are semi-aquatic and can remain underwater for as long as five minutes.–feed myself French toast with banana for breakfast and promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 045 raised so far so grateful (thanks guys).

Yesterday I was deeply saddened to hear about the death of Jenna Lowe (Jenna had a rare degenerative disease called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension after a potentially life-saving double lung transplant she spent many months in the hospital before she passed away on Monday the 8th of June) I interacted with Jenna a few times via Twitter she seemed to be such a sweet soul what I loved most about her was her determination to use her life to help others (she started the Get Me to 21 Campaign encouraging South Africans to become organ donors). Rest in peace Jenna your legacy will endure forever.

It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 1491 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Proverbs 29, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself peanut butter sandwiches and a banana for breakfast promote my Educate Generations campaign – no donations so far today but Anonymous made a donation of $10 yesterday (thank you Anonymous your support means a lot to me) which brings my total raised to $268 only $2232 more to raise I knew God would show up for me through someone (thank you God for not making me look like a fool for believing in you much appreciated 🙂 )
