When you’re different people sometimes forget you’re human – that’s what I keep learning 🙁
It’s 5 : 03 PM on day 713 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to feed myself bread and chicken curry for breakfast, drink coffee by myself, hang out with my extended family, prepare and publish my Disability of the Day feature, prepare my Kid of the Week feature brush my teeth and work.
Today I needed to go to the bathroom so I asked my mom for help while in the bathroom she decided I needed a bath, said you’re going to bath and proceeded to undress me even after I said no I wasn’t having any of it I scratched, clawed and when nothing worked I gave up and started crying in that moment I felt so powerless after about thirty minutes of crying I asked my mother how would you feel if someone started undressing you even after you said no to which she said you’re right all I wanted was for my mother to ask may I help you bathe before she did anything. Do you forget that people who are different are human too?
I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.
