Everyone needs a break from their lives once in a while – that’s what I keep learning 🙂
It’s 7 : 55 PM on day 622 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature, brush my teeth, feed myself scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast, – I used a fork and knife to eat the eggs and sausage it was a royal flop the knife was too blunt to cut the sausage – drink Green Tea by myself, work, prepare my Disability of the Day features for the next seven days, feed myself yogurt and tomatoes for lunch, send thank you messages to my family and friends who helped me build a well in Kenya – with only approximately 4 days to go to the completion of the well I thought it would be a nice thing to do to thank some people for their donations and send them a link to the project’s update page – do nothing, feed myself bread and fish curry for dinner and brush my teeth once more.
As you may or may not know ever since I could remember I’ve always wanted a break from my own life and today I finally gave it to myself usually I would be worrying that I haven’t yet done my physical done my physical or occupational therapy but just for today I’m going to choose not to worry about all the things that come with having Cerebral Palsy and be an average twenty-one-year-old I don’t think people fully comprehend how hard it is to live with a condition like Cerebral Palsy I have to constantly check myself to see if I’m sitting properly because my core muscles aren’t as strong as the average person’s, I have to sleep with a pillow in between my legs to make sure my hamstrings remain stretched, I have to do a minimum of thirty minutes of physiotherapy daily and and and it just never ends I am not complaining I know there are people who would give anything to be me. Do you take a break from your life once in a while?
