It’s 12 : 20 PM on day 1721 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Amos 3, publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature, learn one new thing –The world’s fastest primates, patas monkeys have been clocked at 34 miles (55 kilometers) per hour. While foraging, patas cover more ground over large home ranges than any primate their size. – feed myself a peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast and promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 000 raised so far so grateful

Recently I was thinking about my evolving relationship with Christianity when I was younger I thought to be Christian was to pray, read the Bible and go to church but now I realize to be Christian is to live in a way that reflects the values of Christ.
My reading of the Bible strongly suggests to me that Jesus desires disciples – not fans, FB like givers, Twitter retweeters, armchair believers, etc.
Below are a few of the direct and express commands (not recommendations or suggestions but marching orders) that Jesus tells his disciples to do:
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
Matthew 10:8
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you…
Matthew 28:19-20
Of course, I am not saying prayer, reading the Bible or going to church once a week is not worthwhile. But the job description of the “Christian” can not be ignored. If we are not preparing for the work of the harvest or making the harvest, then we are lost, confused, and, sadly, unprofitable to God.
This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Matthew 24:14
As Jesus explains himself, the Christian is called to be instrumental in bringing about the end of the world. The end as described in Revelations in which God delivers the world from all evil. There is some unfortunate, horrible and grim aspects to such an end, but even those dark days are followed by wonderful things which we cannot begin to imagine.
Not by our violence against our neighbor! Not by our hope in sinful humanity redeeming itself by pulling up humanity’s own boot straps.

To be Christian is to basically be a reflection of Christ 🙂
The term “Christian” means “little Christ”. It was intended to be mocking term, but it’s a term I am proud to identify with.
