Day 1635: “Simon Anholt: Which country does the most good for the world?

“The only remaining superpower is international public opinion.” – Simon Anholt

It’s  12 : 06 PM on day 1635 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth,  pray,    read Jeremiah 52,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  learn one new thing – Only female mosquitoes bite humans and animals; males feed on flower nectar  – feed myself French toast for breakfast and promote my Educate Generations campaign – -$2 124 raised so far still SO GRATEFUL :)  .

Yesterday I watched “Simon Anholt: Which country does the most good for the world?” – a very interesting Ted Talk about which country does the most good in the world and why it’s not a priority for some countries to do good in the world– after watching this talk I can’t help but wonder how different the world would be if all of our countries focused on being good countries instead of focusing on being rich and powerful countries. Watch “Simon Anholt: Which country does the most good for the world?” below:

As I listen to Simon’s talk, I ask myself several questions. For example, what is good? What is always good for the human person – regardless of geographical location and identity? What is a good and praise-worthy nation?

Simon says a good nation is not a morally good nation. And he punctuates his opinion with a blasphemy. I was shocked but his doing so reveals the problematic of Simon Anholt’s misunderstanding of what good is, why doing good is better than doing something else and the measure of what is good.

His vision, I regret to say, is driven by the spirit of the Anti-Christ. I’m not talking about that Hollywood portrayal of a murderous and sinister monster but I’m talking about a humanistic substitute for God and God’s plan.

I’m not saying that globalization is evil. I’m not saying that the human family should not work out our problems together, cooperatively and collaboratively. We should. But no lesser good shall prevail without reference, anchor and blessing from God.

Because there is much evil in the human heart – as much as there is good. And it is by the word of God that we shall know and understand the difference and then, by faith, love and hope, that we might choose what is truly good, morally good, and good for us… all.
